It would have, and I expressed my distaste for Tank doing that when it was announced. That little move Tank did led me to root for Garcia. Although I also had Tank winning by KO with or without the clause. What the clause did for me was led me to stop being neutral for this fight and root for Ry instead of being ok with either guy winning.

But, imo, Tank winning was a foregone conclusion regardless. There’s nothing Ry does better than Tank.

I just read that the top American judges make around $300k a year. Now i’m not sure how true that is, but if I were a top boxing promoter, I imagine $100k isn’t a ton of money. If a judge were to paid off, I imagine it would have to be worth their while. For example, investigations, scrutiny, fan backlash, and the accusations.

Which makes me wonder, IF a judge were to get paid off, I wonder what type of extra fee would make them happy and how is the money received?

Boxers should always aim to make the judges opinions meaningless. Deliver a whoopin' that no one can deny. Otherwise, you gotta live with someone's decision.

Not always possible to KO, but boxers can always drop a guy. If I couldn't drop a guy, I would never complain about a decision. Gotta be focused, in shape, trained and aggressive.

There shouldn’t even be a need for a request. All 3 judges should be neutral

Actually, there was a thread shortly after Davis/Garcia where Barrios responds in a Instagram post that he did fight Davis with a rehydration clause, but that he never mentioned it because he didn't want to make excuses.

Damn man, Tank got *'s all over the place! Go to give him his due though LMAO. https://twitter.com/MichaelBensonn/status/1651606984825733120

Canelo has had more re-hydration clauses than anyone ever in boxing, yet so many of you folks never said a word. Tank does it (he is a very little guy by the way), and now it's the biggest crime in boxing???

                Makes no sense.

PS - I think this comment is in the wrong thread.

I dislike when any A-Side does catch-weight/rehydration clauses, especially for titles. Canelo did it against Fielding. Davis did the same when he fought Barrios, but boxingitis wasn't aware that Garcia wasn't Davis' first opponent who had to deal with weight shenanigans. It's good to keep track of the situations in which A-sides abuse their power.
