Watched the Showtime replay on YouTube just now (family issues on Saturday, really couldn't focus on the fight). I liked the decision. It was close enough (round by round) that it could have gone the other way, but I thought the Judges got it right. Haney looked outclassed in the 10th and 11th ... Loma always does that to these young fighters at some point in the fight. He is only 'that' fighter for a few rounds anymore though. And if he fails to stop the opponent, all the other rounds matter.

In this fight and the Teofimo fight, Loma took lots of good punches and counter-punches. Haney had a good game-plan going to the body, did so, and was effective. It disrupted what Loma was trying to do many times. A couple of times it gave him something to think about too. Haney fought well, aggressive while still being defensively responsible. He made Loma be more defensively responsible than Loma wanted to.

The 10th and 11th. When Loma fights in 'that' zone He outshines anyone. In his younger days he would end fights when in that zone. If he had ended this fight he would be the champ. He shined but he couldn't quite get over the hump. Which makes everything else that happened in the fight relevant. Loma didn't used to look beat up after fights. He definitely did after Haney. Or at least like he had been in a serious scrap. Haney's problem convincing some, is his lack of a showstopping moment. If he had floored Loma at some point there wouldn't be robbery talk. It would've been an exclamation point on a nice body of work over the whole fight. Since he didn't have that moment, many have trouble being convinced he won.

I like Loma's boxing, he always can go where few boxers can in scoring, excitement, and looking good. He used to put the exclamation point on it too. Times maybe have changed. It was a great fight by both. A close fight. No one 'deserved' to lose. But, it was a good decision.

And I cannot agree with you more. Lomachenko has never decided to box all 12 rounds of a close fight, and that is on him. Good for Haney, the boxer who won this fight even if I do not love watching him all that much.
      Good Post!
