Haney will be an easy fight for Tank for he won't respect his power. So, he is gonna fight him like those taller fighter without big pops, he will take Haney's punches and walk right inside to deliver his devastating goods. Tank is a skillful fighter whose craft is underrated by many. If that fight ever happens, depending on whether he beats Loma tonight which won't be an easy task as many believe it's going to be, I can fancy Tank knocking him out.
That might be true but Tank has to get past that stick. Which is not a very easy thing to do. Noticed how none of Haney's previous opponents have been able to seriously threaten or challenge him.
It's because of that jab. They have trouble slipping it. Which is why all of his fights have been one-sided and lopsided decision victories just like the one is he going to have tonight against Lomachenko.
He gets his ass whupped if he fights Shakur Stevenson. However, I would favor him to defeat Gervonta Davs however; Because it's a much better style match up for him. Both fighters throw very few punches.
They are both counter punchers. If Tank decides to fight on the outside like he did against Ryan Garcia then he is going to stay out there because Haney will never allow him to fight on the inside.
Davis would have to take a lot of risks in order to get inside against Haney; Which will not be easy due to Gervonta's short arms and short stature.
These fights will never happen.
We can only hope Lomachenko beats Haney, so we can get Lomachenko - Stevenson for all the belts.
Haney will have to fight big guys at 140, he is already too big for 135.
Haney has been a huge mess since this fight with Loma got made. He is obviously scared, running his mouth like a guy with huge KO power, because he is a feather fisted hit and hold guy. He knows that if he wins using his hug and run style, he will be called boring and no one will care. So he is building this up like he is a killer, so that win or lose, he can say Loma is "dirty" or whatever, meaning I guess that Loma shouldn't be allowed to hit him on the inside or in a clinch?
Now he is already saying 135 is over for him and making excuses for if he loses....I was drained, Loma was dirty, I can't fight at this weight no more. Etc. Watching him lose his damn mind over Loma is pretty incredible, shoving him, being a moron, as Loma is the total professional. Hilarious.
Linares stung him good, now imagine when Tank hits him! I see it as a miniature version of Ali vs. Frazier I @ MSG!
Linares is a lot taller than Davis with an even longer reach and arms. Tank's little short arms and stature would make it very difficult for him to fight on the inside of Haney; Given Haney's Ring IQ, height, reach, movement and jabs.
The formula for Haney would be to jab and move backwards in order to create enough distance and space between the two. Haney won't give him nothing to hit because he'll be too defensive.
Also, when you factor in that Davis is a counter puncher who throws very few punches per round; He doesn't stand a chance against Devin's style.
He would see every punch that Davis throws because he will be sitting in the pocket all night picking him off with his jab. Now if Haney foolishly attempts to make it a firefight with Tank Davis like Ryan Garcia did then the fight's a wrap.
However, Haney is not dumb enough to fall for the same traps as King Ry; Who fought with his balls and not his brains.
I have yet to hear Tank talk about taking any interest in the Haney fight. If he does, he better do something about it before Haney re-signs with Top Rank.

Not sure. I see a lot of Tyson in Tank at times, and I could see him getting inside like Joe Frazier did Ali, or Tyson did Carl "The Truth" Williams.

They all had punching power and that's where the similarities end. Now I can understand the comparison between Davis and Frazier. For the exception of fighting off the back foot; Both are willing to eat punches just so they can land their own.
However, Tank only does this when he's in with a fighter without a lot of punching power like; Leo Santa Cruz and Hector Luis Garcia. If the fighter has punching power and can hit; Then he backs up as he did against fighters like: Isaac Cruz, Rolly Romero and Ryan Garcia.
Now as far as the Mike Tyson's comparison is concerned; He was a much more complete fighter than Davis was in his prime. He had a better jab, foot work, took more risks, threw more punches and had a much better defense too.
A young Mike Tyson had the ability to slip jabs as well. Mike never fought off the back foot but Davis does.

The thing is, contrary to Haney's past opponents, Tank can slip punches if he wants to and above all he's a great chin. So, he will certainly overcome Haney's jab and get inside and do damage to him. Tank is a boxer who can punch real hard. And he's got an incredible cardio. So, I don't see Haney lasting 12 rounds with Tank. If he tries to hug Tank will clip him.
