De La Hoya Sends Legal Letter To Mayweather Over Ryan Garcia
    February 27, 2019

According to a report from the Los Angeles Times, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya has sent a cease-and-desist letter to Floyd Mayweather Jr. - advising the former division champion to stay away from unbeaten lightweight contender Ryan Garcia.

Garcia, regarded as one of the top prospects in the Golden Boy stables, was ringside in Caron on February 9th to watch WBA super featherweight champion Gervonta Davis blew away Hugo Ruiz in one round.

Coincidentally, Golden Boy had a card that night in Indio - about 2.5 hours away - and Garcia decided to attend a Mayweather Promotions card.

Since last year, the 20-year-old Garcia has been voicing his desire to fight Davis.

In a video posted on TMZ, Mayweather offered Garcia a sum of $200,000 if he can defeat Garcia’s former Mayweather-promoted sparring partner, Rolando Romero.

If Garcia could defeat Romero, than Mayweather would have no problem with setting up a fight with Davis.

What caught De La Hoya's eye, is circulating video that showed Garcia attending Mayweather's birthday party from this past weekend.

That was enough for a legal letter to get issued - and De La Hoya's company made it clear that if Mayweather tries to tamper with Garcia then a legal battle will erupt.

No chance of that kinda disrespect in Derrick James gym. He is the least accomplished fighter in his gym. We'll see how he handles that.
Least accomplished?? LOL I guess beating Michel Rivera at 28 makes a guy accomplished these days LOL the racism is rampant..

Ryan is a lotto ticket and it hurts scabs to see him as the new face of boxeo

Racism and the new face of boxing..

Good Lord man, are you serious with this???
This forum is unfortunately rampant with lack of objectivity and bias.
I for instance have been a long time Canelo 'fan'. I use that term loosely because fans are usually non-critical defenders. I saw things I didn't like starting from the Saunders fight so now I am much more critical of Canelo (I really like Bivol now i.e.)Does that automatically make me a 'hater' or even racist?
Boxing fans should be fans of boxing not fan-boys of a partical fighter IMO

New face of boxing based on what exactly? Are we talking social media popularity or do you objectively believe that Ryan Garcia is a technically sound boxer???
I can put down an extensive list of everything that he does wrong, from the very basics of punching correctly.
(In those few pics released with Derrick James you can already see he's addressing his punching technique...)

Ryan needs to improve his defense. Maybe if Errol whoops his ass enough times he will improve.

Why are we knocking this choice? Casual fans don’t know $chit about boxing! Ask De La Hoya who was his best trainer! FMS dumbs @$$3$. Mexican trainer, Black Trainer, White trainer who cares! The importance thing is getting the best knowledge from each of them! A boxer has to evolve and changing trainers comes with the territory! Ryan make the best of it and just let every casual and real boxing fan who the new face of boxing is!

He’ll be jumping to pbc next. After he hear gym money talks, it’s over. He’s still a pup mentality. He would have to move whole family to tx to train full time for it to work. He has a lot to learn, won’t be overnight. But will GB be patient during this learning experience or still be pushing during this learning curve?
