If fights were all stopped because there might possibley be further damage or the ref decided that eventually the fight would end in favor of the opposing corner ? come on man, really ? Lets predict the future here? that is not the refs job never has been. If the ref wanted to protect the old man he should have refused to ref the fight. It was a joke, old man looked like he needed a walker to get into the ring, he made old people look young. And Jolly Rolly was an even bigger joke. They stopped the fight bc the old man was ahead on the cards and he might actually win the damn fight. And then they would be exposed again, talking boxing being exposed to what a joke they have become. No disrespect man but i respectfully disagree.

There was no disrespect intended. You were only expressing your point of view of which I tend to agree. I never said it was the right call to make. It was the wrong call to make. All I was saying that it was probably a judgement call on Weeks' part to halt the fight when the man he was protecting was winning on the three judges scorecards.

It was eerily similar to when Richard Steele called a halt to the first Meldrick Taylor vs Julio Cesar Chavez fight. Meldrick was way ahead on the scorecards and yet Richard Steele decided to play God by stopping the fight with one second left when Meldrick Taylor was still on his feet.

One can make the same argument that Steele was on the take too because Taylor was winning that fight against Chavez and the powers that be feared that Meldrick would have one that fight also. I believe the saving a man's life excuse was all bullshit. This is the hurt business.

If a fighter can't protect himself then he shouldn't be licensed to fight in the first damn place.
