I'm not saying Barroso would have fun but Rollies and him were starting to engage more in those final minutes. A knockout was coming for either fighter. I think the business side of boxing made the decision to save the more marketable fighter from potentially losing. Again, not saying which fighter would have won or lost in the end, but I do think that they saw Rollies in a tougher fight than they expected, and pulled the trigger to save him. Sucks because now he looks bad and it's not even his fault.

So whether they pulled the trigger or the plug, Barroso gets thrown under the bus?

One thing about sweeping an elephant under the rug -- it's hard not to see it.

They did that man wrong in my opinion. He’s 40 and was putting on a performance a lot of us didn’t expect from him. Sadly, they’ll talk about what the problem is but no one is ever held accountable. They’re going to continue the “controversial ending” narrative for a while but things will go on as always. Tony Weeks will continue to referee, Barroso will have to start from the bottom again, and no one will do anything to fix the issue.

Agreed. Just that this one was so obvious: there's no controversy -- what happened was just wrong.

What can be done to hold people accountable, to change the game so these things don't happen?

What can we do to fix the issue?

The fact that a rollie thread has 30plus pages on a thread speaks volumes

Anyway, it has this look: PBC didn't like Rolly's chances against Puello so they arranged to bring in an easy mark, Barraso, instead; and when that looked like it was gonna backfire, the safety switch was flipped at the first opportunity.

I noticed Weeks was standing behind Rolly when he stopped the fight during that last "flurry." From that angle, I don't see how he could have properly gauged Barraso's condition to make that call.

I can't fault Rolly for what Weeks did. At least he stated that the fight should have continued. But he didn't deserve that TKO, especially since he was probably behind on the cards. And they just straight-up fcuked Barraso. Green vomit disgusting.
I feel like this is the most crucial part that is getting lost in this. He was not even in position to make the call. It's like in the NBA when a ref is out of position and still makes a call only for another ref that had a better view to overturn the call.

Weeks took that moment to make sure Rolly won because they had no faith in him winning on the cards nor finishing the old man.

So petitioning the NSAC would be pointless for Barroso's team. Boxing is so morbidly corrupt.

True. And I don't know. You would think governing bodies would do something about it but if they don't, who can?

                  That's it, really.
But it's also a sport..so let's say, for exemple, in tennis, you would not become the "new face of tennis" for beating someone seeded #57. But it's boxing, so #57 can be #2 with a good promoter who has money to spend.

SO actually it says a whole lot! It says that boxing is not a sport like others, and that rankings can be fake, and results doubtful. SO then it's more like entertainment... Thus you must ask yourself the quality of the show.
