Or better yet let's hypothetically say canelo decides to retire or just drop all the 168 belts to move up to 175 the belts would be vacant right? and both benavidez and morrell being top contenders get right to fight for it, would you consider the winner 'a real champ' even tho they didn't fought canelo?

If the number one and number two fight for the vacant belt, then we have a real champion. Who do they fought, those undefeated champions you talk to about? Are they were #1 against the #2? Do they defended the belt against the #1 or #2 in the division? If I recall correctly around that time, benavidez was the concensus #1 SMW, even though they weren't killers in his resume, not his fault, I know he lost his belt twice, this was his fault, still he came back and none of the champs were eager to face him.
