Better Boxer Floyd or Sugar Ray Leonard?

whooaa hold your horses. It's only floyd boys who talk about floyd, otherwise he'd be forgotten.
The only serious threads about floyd are regarding his ducking, and IV fluids, no rematches and home advantage and CWs and why he didn't fight GGG a overrated middleweight?Last edited by hugh grant; 05-06-2023, 11:35 AM.Comment

Calm down dear, it's only a floydboy starting thread. Pac was pitted against SRL in a poll here not so long ago and they were neck and neck with equal votes, but at end of the day the general consensus was "well done SRL, going h2h with Pac and not being blown out of water"
I don't think floyd ever fairs too well against the ATGs in serious polls.Last edited by hugh grant; 05-06-2023, 01:48 PM.Comment

Ah ok I thought accomplishments took in records that were broken belts opponents overall etc etc , yes the level of fighters has meaning with the question does 4 best 25 and Rays name in history is built around those four guys as they are built around him, I don't think they were any greater than other greats, all things equal there is not a lot between greats, those 4 also had the opportunity and hype on their side because they were in the same time, they all ducked McCallum, they all got beat and struggled, they were all human and especially so when you take them out of each resume and then look what is left, this where we see the overall quality as opposed to a few greats
Is a guy that started at 130 beat Duran twice, beat Leonard, beat Mancini and Vinny Paz, beat Rosario and Rameriz, lost to Oscar Trinidad and Chavez, if you want ring resume Hector Camacho trumps most.
Point Im making is the greatest best etc is all subjective hogwash, like all boxing debates its wishy-washy arguing beliefs, not facts.
Floyd easily has the skills to beat all 4 as Ive said lesser fighters than Floyd beat them, the thing that bothers me the most in these fantasy match ups is Floyd is not a WW and that size works against him when facing bigger ATG WWs, you never see them crowing about Morales would beat Floyd because its shot down in no time, you never get these threads with Floyds best weights its always the other end up to MWs, all Im really comfortable saying is that Floyd proved he is the best fighter of his era and I like his chances of beating any fighter in history 130/140 pounds, above that it's too much of an disadvantage against a true ATG, be like saying a great 118 guy is going to hang with Mayweather at 135, when you hit a level weight matters, they might play around with pounds to make fights happen but when best meets best on their best night every ounce matters.
Well the ATG's Ray beat were truly some of the best ATGs ever. Like Hagler is arguably the goat MW. Hearns is the nightmare for anyone in 147-154, maybe even 160. Duran is the goat LW and a great WW. Benitez wasn't as great but he was double lineal and I think he can beat most 140 lbers in history at his best. Thats beyond a stacked resume.
I think floyd would beat duran. He would beat Benitez. I think him and Hearns is 50/50, but if Floyd can survive I think he'd outbox him. If hagler was fighting today, he would likely be a 147 lber, and i think floyd would beat Hagler. But he didn't fight them like SRL did, but that was mostly because Floyd fought in a weaker era. There weren't multiple ATGs in his era besides Oscar and Pacquiao.
I think Floyd vs the 4 kings is a good hypothetical because they fought in the same day weigh in. Floyd fought guys that were 160-165+ in the ring. Oscar rehydrated to 170 i believe.Comment

No one cares about Pac.
It's almost like going to the dentist with a mouthful of cavities to get a Pac convo going

Perfect example.
Pac Boi's love to roll out ''8 div's'', but never go into specifics.Comment

I don't disagree with you but I don't believe Floyds prime is a WW, SR Hearns Hagler what weights did they start their pro career at, that's the thing they were full blown WWS , Hearns went up to CW, Haglere was middle could easily go 168/175, Ray went MW, Floyd cant break 150 lbs, its a huge handicap against ATGS, Floyd beats them all at 140 which then handicaps them so that's not a fair fight, if they were the same natural size Floyd is right in the fight and could get wins from all of them, but at the real sizes they were Floyd would have a lot of trouble with SR Tommy and Hagler, Duran Floyd UDs.
