He didn't listen to Goosen's advice in the second round and decided coming out like a mad man was a better idea. Goosen said you don't really train Ryan, you collaborate with him. Is this guy really going to listen to whoever takes him on?
Can Ryan Garcia be trained?

He could definitely come back. He just needs to realize it's not a collaboration and you don't just listen when you feel like it.Comment

Some fighters don't make good students. It's rare that a fighter makes measurable improvements when moving to different trainers. Cotto was an example that comes to mind, he made some noticeable improvements when he hired Freddie Roach. Ryan is limited as it is, his fundamentals are flawed. Any coach that takes him on will have their hands full. Especially if he won't listen to them.Comment

I think Holyfield said it best, he humbled himself to be coachable 100% of the time with his trainer(s). He was fast and powerful in his prime. The first one in the gym the last one to leave. He was the epitome of student of the game.
I remember guys like bebut sheminov had no trainer, he got beat by hops I believe. If Ryan starts being a sponge he will succeed and Connor McGregor said he's still the face of boxing we'll see.
I've heard ramblings that Ryan and tank may rematch at 140 with no rehydration clause. We will see which Ryan shows up, the promising young man from round one or the immature money grubber with no trainer.
Not to knock him, he still is a talent.Comment

I don't think his issues will change. That's simply part of his style at this point. His inherent qualities. But a good coach will figure it out.
Ryan sort of burned his bridge with the Canelo camp but that was probably the camp he should've been in. Even Gervonta said with Canelo's team, it would've been a harder fight, leading up to the fight. So, smoke-and-fire all that.Comment
