Of course I could be wrong; then I'll change my philosophy
What was Pacquiao s hardest opponent?

I don't think getting Kayode by a body shot is his hardest fight, unless he was taking severe punishment over the course if the few rounds. If anything, we learn after time and time again that a bodyshot is crippling but tends to alleviate in a short amount of time. Unless you're Virgil hill vs Roy Jones Jr (I think he broke his ribs, not sure though) but I will boxrec for reference if needed.Comment

Marquez is easily Pacquiao's toughest opponent because his style is tailor made against his. Pacquiao couldn't figure him out even at an advance age after 4 tough fights.Okay let's have some fun now, this question has many foes to question. Was it Margarito? Was it Mosley? Perhaps Mayweather?
Any way I swear I could remember Pacquiao saying Cotto was his hardest fight because "after 6 rounds they still were even."
This comes after what? 2 knockdowns on Cotto if I remember co4rectly and a stoppage in the 12th? PAC also had a swollen ear/ cauliflower/ busted eardrum.
Whether it is or not, Miguel praised him (Manny) of being the best fighter in the world. Which stems another question 1 a) how many fighters confessed with their own mouth that he pacman, was the pound for pound king.
Me thinks: Mosley, Cotto, I can't recall many others. You be the one to decide:
Pacquiao only did well against Marquez because of his great physical prowess and talent. His speed, power and fury were enough to overcome the boxing deficit many times.
Against Cotto, Pacquiao was doing his thing, exchanging fire with fire and was winning almost all the exchanges. Cotto was clearly stronger than Marquez but his style was not all wrong for Pacquiao. Margarito? eh Pac was doing his thing. Mosley? He was already past it when that fight happen but nowhere pacquiao was hurt no threaten to lose that fight at any point.
Floyd won against Pacquiao, but pacquiao was never hurt in the process. They both landed below their usual connect rates. Floyd usually washes his opponents with jabs and right hands, against Pacquiao it was very minimal. It's not close to Floyd-marquez, floyd-canelo, Floyd-guerrero washed.
So yes it's Marquez, I know fans say they are made for each other, but nahh, Pacquiao was made for Marquez.Comment

Excellent post. I agree that the word "hardest" opponent is subjective. Thank you for a classic breakdown of jmm.

It's Floyd because pac arguably won 1 of the 4 fights against Marquez.

Pac would lose 10 times out of 10 against Floyd 116-112. But pac would win multiple times if he fought Marquez 10 times
