10-10 is an impossible score with a KD in the round.

Not impossible. That’s the problem with scoring. This is directly from the ABC website:
“Situation 1: Boxer A is winning the round convincingly - your score at the moment is
10-9- Boxer A. Boxer B knocks down Boxer A just before the bell. Since Boxer A was winning the round in convincing fashion your score maybe 10-9 for Boxer B (not 10-8 for Boxer B since he was well behind at the time of the knock-down). This round may also be scored 10-10- depending on how far ahead you had Boxer A at the time of the knockdown.”

Really? One guy coming forward, initiating the action and putting the other one the ropes and the other initiating hard clinches. Ryan wasn’t landing a lot of his punches, but Tank did next to nothing besides clinch so I can see see how the judges thought Ryan was comfortably winning until that point.
Hence 10-9 according to the ABC guidelines. Now 10-10 I agree was wayyy too generous. Ryan wasn’t killing him but that was an easy round to score up to the then.Comment

The only way you don’t get a 10-8 round when knocked down is if you’re truly dominating a round. It was tit for tat and then he got put down and put down hard. Not an off balance shot, he got sprawled.

False, you don’t have to be “dominating.” You have to be winning “convincingly,” which is what the judges saw. Not my words, the ABCs words. It wasn’t tit for tat. Gervonta had barely thrown a punch before the KD.Last edited by mxtali; 04-28-2023, 01:50 PM.Comment

Garcia landed 7 punches. How convincing is that? Plus, if you get dropped, it’s impossible to get a 10 for that round which is what a judge gave Garcia. The best you can get is a 9 in a round you got dropped. The way they scored that round was a joke but it was all a moot point because Garcia quit a few round later anyway. The actual point is why do golden boy fighters often get favoritism from judges?

Well when the other guy is doing nothing except initiating clinches… If that round would have ended without a KD, that would be a pretty easy round to score correct? And also false, you can get a 10 “depending on how far ahead you had the boxer before the knockdown.” That was definitely the wrong score, I agree. The rules are vague but they are what they are. And I don’t care to argue or fanboy certain about certain promotions. Fighters get BS scores all the time across all promotions.Garcia landed 7 punches. How convincing is that?
