He's an overthinker indeed. He needs to let his hands go more, but I think he's wary of getting stopped again.

He doesn't need boxing anymore, made so much money. He may as well try for the biggest fights, Fury and Wilder, and call it a day.

It's true that Fury borrowed Mayweather's approach to opponent selection. But more so the Money May version of Floyd, later in his career, when he became much more careful about who he'd fight, picking and choosing the right fight at the right time and avoiding fighters like Paul Williams, Antonio Margarito and most famously of course, Amir Khan.

But that doesn't change the fact that AJ borrows elements of Floyd's game too, as described. He was multi-dimensional both in the ring and out, so different fighters are inspired by different facets of Floyd's career. You make it sound like only one of them can be inspired by Floyd.. either AJ or Fury. In fact, it was both.

At this point of his career; Anthony Joshua just needs to win. Whether it's by way of knockout or just on a points decision victory. A fighter is not going to knock everybody out no matter how hard he hits anyhow.

Lennox Lewis had to learn that lesson the hard way very early in his career; When he got dropped and stopped by Oliver Mccall. That fight really evolved him. He went from a pure slugger to a master boxer/puncher under the tutelage of Emanuel Steward

I always thought Parker was his best win , Ruiz 2 shouldn't have been allowed in the ring and his purse withheld. He was an insult to boxing and said that much himself but as ever they were shrewd in knowing, a rich fat bloke doesn't have an empty fridge after just winning the title!

Joshua is actually right - he has a terrible chin. He needs to box well to protect it. If he brawls he will lose

When he was more aggressive he was getting caught and stunned a lot. If you think back to the Ruiz fight - a lot of it was Ruiz taking a punch to land a punch. Ruiz took some huge punches in that fight that would have wiped out previous opponents. I think Joshua did exactly the right thing against Franklin given his experience .

Anyone could see Franklin was jerking his head out of the way and throwing fast counters back at Joshua. He could also take Joshua's shots pretty well

As good as Lewis was - you must remember him staggering around the ring against Briggs, struggling against Bruno, and in a ton of other fights. I was there at the time and Lewis was getting called over-cautious all the time, often by Steward. It's interesting how people mythologize fighters when their career is over. He was definitely never an invincible fighter

Where do you think AJ's talk about "This is all about the Money" came from? Very similar to what Floyd said in the second half of his career and when his moniker changed from "Pretty Boy" to "Money Mayweather". AJ took a lot of inspiration from Floyd and one of these things is to attempt to be more of a ring technician in this second half of his career.
Floyd was always a technician. He was just able to be more aggressive and knock guys out when he was fighting guys his own size, and before his hands were ****.

Wasn't a thinker after the usyk fight. Aj such a tool, didn't he claim after usyk fight that he was too big to be a boxer. That he was a brawler. Different day different nonsense from him.

Hey at least Aj is being honest with him being over thinker. Problem is when he stops throwing hands and become hesitant against opp that know and will take advantage of that cautiousness.
