Boxing, Europe of North America?

In Denmark there's Kessler and Mads Larsen to some extent. Other than that there's little. Norway and Sweden has traditionally had little proboxing due to the sport being banned there. There has been the occasional star from those countries, but they have been forced to fight in Denmark under the Team Palle banner.whats it like in europe bat? i can imagine kess being big in denmark but is boxing big in denmark? do you know about other scandinavian countries?
in england and scotland the main talk is about football and i can imagine it being the same in other countries like italy, spain, netherlands, france and possibly germany. in europe id say germany and ireland have more of a boxing following.
in britian i think F1 motorsport, rugby union, snooker, darts, cricket and rugby are all bigger than boxing.
in britian fighters like haye, calzaghe, khan and hatton are known by approx 4/10 people and only those who follow boxing know who the likes of froch, kevin mitchell, brook, cleverly and macklin are. i think boxing is alot bigger in the US
The sport I think isn't particularly popular there as there's little to no topfighters. Norway has a female called Cecilia Braekhus who's a champion. She fights for german Sauerland and is quite popular I think. She's a hot girl as well which doesn't harm
I would think that Mikkel Kessler is quite popular in Norway as well as the norwegians traditionally like danish sportsstars nearly as much as they love their own.Comment

Btw, in Germany it's a very crazy situation as actually the media makes boxing and not the other way around...even fans are just casual, caring more about celebs ringside than about the sport itself...though, there's a difference - the atmosphere in Eastern Germany is far better than in the West of my country...Comment

Since Bat avoids the issue ( hehe ) let me answer. No, boxing in my opinion is not big in denmark, if we forget about Kessler. We are a small country. Once we did good in the lame sport of Curling. At that time everybody loved curling. When Kessler retires, boxing is dead in denmark.
I have one friend who liked to watch Brian Nielsen (10 years ago) and now Kessler. But he knows no other boxers. Besides him I don't think I have ever met a boxing fan (and I would not really call him a fan).Comment
