Ward claimed he suffered a knee injury in Oct, 2016 during sparring, then fought Kovalev the following month and again in July of 2017. Two months after the second fight, he retired. The following month, Roc Nation filed a $6.3 million disability insurance claim, citing the 2016 injury. The claim was denied and Ward and Roc Nation sued. I don't think he won.Comment

Ward was a dirty fighter I will never dispute that and that was a partial low blow he did land on Kovalev but it wasn't like it was directly on the nuts a lot of fighters have caught fighters with shots like that in the past if anything it's the refs fault. Kovalev was also badly hurt from a right hand before that and was unsteady not to mention he was getting outboxed the entire fight.

"The Book of Ward." He named after documentary after a Bible book. From a Christian perspective, this would be considered blasphemy, to compare the story of your boxing career to one of the gospels, or the other books of the Bible.
I have always wondered if Ward was just faking being a Christian, because he called himself "Son of God" and had what seemed to be a flimsy explanation for that title. Now to add this to it, well, you can draw your own conclusions, but if I were a Christian, I would not want him representing me and giving me a bad name to the public.Comment

Yeah they were scared that's why Mikey jumped up from 126 to fight the biggest 147 lber there is and that's why Ward jumped up to 175 after humiliating Carl Froch at 168. With that being said even though I thought he lost the first Kovalev fight he got in there and fought, he left no doubt in the rematch either.
Lol it's funny you say they won't cross your mind yet you mentioned both of them as examples lmao. Obviously they are in your mind somewhat, but it's ok you won't cross anyone's mind when talking about boxing.
lol and what did Mikey do in the ring? Literally nothing, not even an attempt to show anything. Stevie Wonder could see Mikey did it to cash out. Is that the definition of great in your books? damn..

Boxing is a business, not a sport. What I think, they tried to use this dirty style to build Ward up as a heel, and get him a fanbase of so called "haters" in addition to fans who like him, but it didn't work this time, which is probably a a good sign for humanity that so many people who might otherwise have liked him had the moral fiber to resist supporting him because they knew he was suspect.
You can't always predict ahead of time what scripts will be hits and what won't. Hollywood is the same way. But the writers are good at it and I'm sure they will keep trying and have plenty of successes in the future. Plus, even though Ward did not become a huge money generator for the business, it's possible he would have generated even less money had they not used this dirty style to generate controversy around his career. This is not one of the cases where we can just blame the writers for everything.Last edited by Boxing Logic; 04-21-2023, 02:23 PM.Comment

Yeah, it's mind-boggling how Ward crossed my mind in the post about Ward. Absolute mystery
