Ward claimed he suffered a knee injury in Oct, 2016 during sparring, then fought Kovalev the following month and again in July of 2017. Two months after the second fight, he retired. The following month, Roc Nation filed a $6.3 million disability insurance claim, citing the 2016 injury. The claim was denied and Ward and Roc Nation sued. I don't think he won.Comment

Lol you are talking like Calzaghe didn't have close fights with RJJ and B-Hop when they were both old. Ward would've broken Calzaghes hands with his head. Calzaghe also never fought James Toney.
Ward was a dirty fighter I will never dispute that and that was a partial low blow he did land on Kovalev but it wasn't like it was directly on the nuts a lot of fighters have caught fighters with shots like that in the past if anything it's the refs fault. Kovalev was also badly hurt from a right hand before that and was unsteady not to mention he was getting outboxed the entire fight.

"The Book of Ward." He named after documentary after a Bible book. From a Christian perspective, this would be considered blasphemy, to compare the story of your boxing career to one of the gospels, or the other books of the Bible.
I have always wondered if Ward was just faking being a Christian, because he called himself "Son of God" and had what seemed to be a flimsy explanation for that title. Now to add this to it, well, you can draw your own conclusions, but if I were a Christian, I would not want him representing me and giving me a bad name to the public.Comment

Yeah, it's mind-boggling how Ward crossed my mind in the post about Ward. Absolute mysteryYeah they were scared that's why Mikey jumped up from 126 to fight the biggest 147 lber there is and that's why Ward jumped up to 175 after humiliating Carl Froch at 168. With that being said even though I thought he lost the first Kovalev fight he got in there and fought, he left no doubt in the rematch either.
Lol it's funny you say they won't cross your mind yet you mentioned both of them as examples lmao. Obviously they are in your mind somewhat, but it's ok you won't cross anyone's mind when talking about boxing.
lol and what did Mikey do in the ring? Literally nothing, not even an attempt to show anything. Stevie Wonder could see Mikey did it to cash out. Is that the definition of great in your books? damn..

All I see in that "Is Ward Dirty?" video is that his opponents are dirty outside the ring. They let Ward wrap his hand around their backs for defense, but then they let him pull it out for offense whenever he wants, with zero resistance, like they are losing on purpose by making sure that whatever he does is successful. It's like they miss punches on purpose, flailing over his head so he can duck under and get in close, and then let him do whatever he wants in the clinch, scoring fake punches to make for a good show with him becoming the predetermined "winner." To me you can see so many times in that video where it is showing how Ward is really the one who is holding and then pulling his hands free and scoring "punches" that they are letting him do that. Instead of clamping down on his arm so he can't use it, they let him pull it free and then just stand there and let him punch them with it.
Boxing is a business, not a sport. What I think, they tried to use this dirty style to build Ward up as a heel, and get him a fanbase of so called "haters" in addition to fans who like him, but it didn't work this time, which is probably a a good sign for humanity that so many people who might otherwise have liked him had the moral fiber to resist supporting him because they knew he was suspect.
You can't always predict ahead of time what scripts will be hits and what won't. Hollywood is the same way. But the writers are good at it and I'm sure they will keep trying and have plenty of successes in the future. Plus, even though Ward did not become a huge money generator for the business, it's possible he would have generated even less money had they not used this dirty style to generate controversy around his career. This is not one of the cases where we can just blame the writers for everything.Last edited by Boxing Logic; 04-21-2023, 02:23 PM.Comment

Mikey is a multi division world champion who has multiple former world champions on his resume you have 0 just like boxing IQ. Why don't you list some of your favorite fighters so we can break down their resumes? I guarantee most of them made pit stops in divisions and never made any true defenses but they fit your agenda so it's all good.

True but I think they were both fixed fights. The judging controversy by just 1 point in the first fight, and then the crazy nut shots controversy in the second fight, make for really good distractions from the fact that maybe both fights were just like, like world wide wrestling federation, where everyone is pulling their punches, punching with open hands at the last second which you can't see through the gloves, stuff like that, making sure no one gets hurt. Then you use some Hollywood makeup to make it seem like people are cutting and bruising throughout the fight, and you got yourself a convincing show. It's not that hard to do. The undefeated American gold medalist gets the win, setting up a megafight vs the Mexican Canelo who also had controversial possibly fake fights against GGG, but maybe it didn't work out to plan this time because Ward never crossed over like they hoped.
I am just being a conspiracy theorist though lol. Don't listen to me. I have no idea what I'm talking about, hahaha. Just crazy drunk old me, probably just talking crazy, nothing to it.... don't mind me..Comment
