Zhang is a promoter's wet dream.

Let's be honest. 300 million Chinese watched him lose to Hrgovic in a close decision. Who knows how many saw him knock Joyce out! Maybe more than 300 million. He is the first Asian fighter and I'll include India to ever rank in the top ten professional ranks at heavyweight. Ever. In fact there have been no Chinese or Indian boxers ever ranked so high at light heavyweight or middleweight either. The two nations combined have over 2 billion people or have 2/5 ths of the world's population. Both nations participate in the amateurs and have boxing programs. They just have never produced one like Zhang, at least in the upper weights.

But now they have one now and the world is the promoter's oyster so to speak. I think Zhang is getting old, but will have very lucrative career at the top. Can he become the first Asian heavyweight champion ( lineal ) ever? Will that depends on if he is given the chance and when. I think he can beat Fury who is the lineal champion.

The next Zhang? There is not one, and I follow the amateur game fairly closely. Enjoy him while he is active.

Zhang would lose to Joyce if Joyce gets better advice in his corner ….and I mean much better . Lol

I don’t see him becoming champion he’ll probably be just about right outside the top 5 , he’ll have good fights . If he fought say a Mahkmudov or the other southpaw Kossobutskiy we’d know more . Of off one fight I’m not sold . And I think Hrgovic knocks him out in a rematch .

If he fights fellow southpaw Usyk he will lose as Usyk is too good a boxer and too quick with the needed stamina to stay away and the chin if he has to take it on occasion.

I think Zhang would beat Kossobutskiy if the fight happens soon enough. Big Mahmudov? Not that one would be great.

But neither are big money fights. Usyk and Fury are. Hgrovic is too. We shall see who Zhang chooses. And if Fury will turn the offer down! He is a ducker.

Joyce has shown that he don't do basic defensive moves. He should had move his head to the side by rotating his waist and he can't even do that. His jab go neutralized which is his biggest weapon and his timing was totally off. He might be to old to learn all those things. A simple step back to the side would had alleviated him of a lot of punishment.

That is the first thing I though when he won. He has a massive nation and they can milk all those viewers.

My first thought after the fight is that Joyce could win a rematch. After thinking about it though, maybe not. Joyce is not some newbie, if he is just standing still in front of a giant southpaw taking punches to his eye, it might be because he can't move his feet laterally.

If Zhang loses to Usy k or fury, I'll be left thinking I wonder if Zhang would've won if he was 35 years old?
If China was really into boxing of course they'd have had more success, as well as India

Nope. The upper weights division is partly about physicality and for the most part India and China are too small.

Basketball is very popular in India and China, yet China has next to no players in the NBA and India has not have anyone of note. I think they never had one. American football? Forgetabout it! These two nations can't even do well in soccer if the world cup if it is any grade of the state of the game. They play it, trust me. Rugby, Track and field, Lacrosse, Wrestling, MAA, baseball and hockey? Negative. You name to sport, if they play it the Olympics and it's popular in the west, China and India are out of the medals. Is it an accident? I think not.

But Boxing is a world wide sport that has weight classes. They can do well in the extreme lower weights, but how may men are under 120 pounds have you meet? But Heavyweight, light heavy weight and middle weight? Nope. Not one since...well ever.

But Zhang is a a bit unicorn in build for China and one with 300+ million fans!

Every business wants to make money off of China.

The question really is, how many Chinese give a **** about boxing?

If Fury and Warren understand their business, Fury fights Zhang in one of his next three fights.

Fury claimed Joyce would have been a huge fight. Well, Zhang is much bigger.

There will be millions Chinese casuals and other casuals around the world watching Chinese guy in WBC world title fight.

                    It is bigger than Usyk.
