Well, by your interpretation, then Zhang isn't elite. And if the champs don't give Zhang a chance, then Zhang can remain not elite for rest of career. Or Zhang can be one win away from elite.
Some other people's interpretation of elite might be they think Zhang would best usy k orvfury. So Zhang must be an elite if he's favoured to beat fury now, having underestimated Zhang twice and learnt not to again

Zhang is not a elite fighter, he quite simply has not achieved the wins 'And he has never captured a World title'.

Zhang possibly could be rated as a high end world level fighter, but that is as high as he can be rated currently right now etc.

There goes AJ’s *itch trying to again scam the boxing public as if anyone with a brain hasn’t figured out that AJ is mentally a shadow of his former self, who is in desperate need of heart and courage. Hearn has lost hundreds of millions of his billionaires $$$ conning the fool into believing that AJ was better than luminaries in the heavyweight division. No wonder Matchroom fighters are leaving him in droves, for better paydays with other promoters. 2. Joshua used to be elite but not anymore ,he could claim back status with a big win against fury but its looking tough for him.

You don't need to be elite to beat elite fighters. AJ is no longer elite anyway. An elite fighter would have blasted out Frankin in 6 rounds.
