So you are demanding Anthony Joshua should fight off Fury's nearest competition? I have noticed this is the latest sociopolitical tactic hardcore Fury fans are attempting to use.

Fury's hardcore fans demand that Fury's nearest competition should all fight each other 'But not Tyson Fury'.

Zhang has called to fight ether Fury or Usyk, because they are the Champions 'Anthony Joshua does not currently hold any World titles, and is under no obligation to fight Zhang' etc.

It's hearn that's saying what Joshua would do to Joyce, and hiw Zhang isn't a top tier heavy.

So, if they're looking for another "confidence builder" for their two-time world champion, why not one of those two?

I think really a fighter can only be deemed elite when they are World Champions, or they have been World Champions 'But have achieved some solid comeback wins'.

Anthony Joshua & Deontay Wilder are no longer elite level fighters but they are both working their way back towards this level 'I would rate them both as High End World level fighters'.

Joshua & Wilder are still on merit in the top 4-5 most highly rated Heavyweights in the division. If they where to achieve another top-level win, this may be enough once again to rate them as elite level fighters.

Elite level > High End World Level > World Level > European Level, Commonwealth or Top American Level > Domestic National Level.

Note: I suppose everyone has their own rating system, myself personally I understand the magnitude of what it means to be a elite level fighter 'I only really rate Tyson Fury & Usyk as the two definite elite level fighters at Heavyweight'.

Joshua & Wilder are the only two High End World level fighters for definite 'Then their seems to be a competitive following pack'.

Joyce, Hrgovic, Zhang, Dubois, Ruiz Junior. These are predominately the main fighters in the following pack threatening to attack the upper levels.

Note: I even have a rating above elite level, called 'Super elite'. There may be extremely long periods of time, when no fighters even reach this level. Usyk overall is a Super elite level fighter due to his accomplishments in the sport 'Usyk is the most accomplished active boxer in the sport' etc.

Well, by your interpretation, then Zhang isn't elite. And if the champs don't give Zhang a chance, then Zhang can remain not elite for rest of career. Or Zhang can be one win away from elite.
Some other people's interpretation of elite might be they think Zhang would best usy k orvfury. So Zhang must be an elite if he's favoured to beat fury now, having underestimated Zhang twice and learnt not to again
