  • Comments Thread For: Joe Joyce: I'm Disappointed With My Performance, I Couldn't Get Away From Left Hand

In a battle of Olympic silver medal winners, Zhilei Zhang pulled off a shocker on Saturday night at the Copper Box Arena in London, when he stopped undefeated Joe Joyce to capture the WBO's interim-heavyweight title.

I'm not surprised. He got battered by Parker. The only difference is Parker is notably smaller and pillowfisted making it impossible for him to win.

Looks like Joyce vs Whyte is a possibility if AJ doesn't fight Whyte. Maybe Joyce vs Dubois 2 if Dubois doesn't pull an upset.

Joyce is 37 and hasn't developed head movement his entire career and coming off an aSs whipping like that, pretty much has reached his limit. Jared Anderson should be thrown in with these guys his talent runs circles on the crop of heavys I'm seeing.

I expect the bubble has burst. At 37 this is the beginning of the end. As I suspected, having faced only one southpaw in his career, and with no head movement or defense, the wheels were bound to come off.

I'll give Joe some credit here...

most fighters always come with some kind of excuse, but he gave Zhang full credit.

Not saying he can win a rematch, but at least he knows the problem and can get to work on a solution straight away.

Other than the horrid matchmaking i'm well and truly confused how a fighter losing a significant amount of weight and ends up looking slower in both hand speed and footwork, my mind is well and truly blown.

As for not being able to get away from left hands he couldn't get away from Lenroy Thomas's left either and he seemingly hasn't improved defensively in the 5 years since that extremely short fight.
