Comments Thread For: Oscar De La Hoya: Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia Is The Fight To Save Boxing - Literally

Oscar De La Hoya expects Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia to be such an enormous event that it'll make a lasting impact on the boxing business. Garcia's promoter predicted that these two fighters' popularity on social media and outside of boxing's faded fan base will make their pay-per-view event a smashing success financially. T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, where Davis and Garcia will fight April 22, has been sold out since the day tickets went on sale last month.

There is a battle for the "Undisputed Lightweight Champion of the World" on May 20th! Literally one month later! Josh Taylor vs. Teofimo Lopez, literally a month after that. Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue, literally a month after that one! Boxing is alive and well!

Coke head Oscar needs to get a grip. It’s a solid fight that fans are happy about but these 2 aren’t super accomplished fighters yet. Especially Ryan. Dude has 0 world titles in his career and only beat 1 former champ. Pretty sure fighters still need to accomplish something in the sport (and IG followers don’t count” to be the saviors of boxing.

        Is Fishnets the Crackhead serious???

No one fight alone can bring the sport back to the prominence it once Had. F--king ****** a$$ promoters... I understand promoting the fight-it is a business. But when you say ridiculous s--t like this I can't take you seriously.

Quite sure this jacka$$ went to snort a nice white line off his fine marble countertops immediately after he made this dumba$$ statement.

I don't know about being the savior boxing needs, but I do envision this matchup to be a good show of fists, and that's all I can hope for.

Social media followers can provide more viewers than boxing is currently getting. Just look at Jake Paul’s PPV numbers, which are better than anything Tank Davis has ever produced.

Ryan Garcia is like a Jake Paul who can actually box.

I think a comparison to a Jake Paul fight is a good one. Just a whimsical match between two fighters. representing no particular weight class with one handicapped so he's not at his best.

these two should both be at their best, fighting the best at 135 and 140 respectively but instead we get a circus act.
