Comments Thread For: Hamzah Sheeraz Set To Return in June, Says Frank Warren

Hamzah Sheeraz is expected to return from injury in June before a 'very significant fight' before the end of the year. The middleweight contender has not boxed since he stopped River Wilson-Bent in two rounds in November due to surgery on his hand.

I reckon tune-up June and then Janibek (or whoever holds the WBO title) end of the year. Sheeraz is decently ranked with the WBO. Shame they don't want to make Bentley-Sheeraz because it's a great fight at British level. Wouldn't say Bentley is much above British level if at all, he went life and death with Linus Udofia and Cash battered him.

He has said on many times that he expects to fight for a title by 2025 as he is still young and has a lot to learn. I'd expect the fight to be a tune up and then followed up by the winner of Bentley-Smith by the end of the year.

He's insinuating here that Sheeraz-Bentley is beyond British level. I don't agree, but maybe he'd rather both lose at a higher level than have one take a loss at British. There's precedent for a Queensbury fighter to take a WBO title shot earlier than their development would suggest they should ...

There's just far too much enthasis put on alphabet title's these day's which is vastly demeaning once prestigious championship's such as British, Commonwealth & European trophy's & it's the greed of the likes of Frank Warren that's causing it with his WBO/IBF Euro, Continental, International & Inter-Continental bauble's. It's about time these trinkets were banned under the trades discription act. Sheeraz is a good boxer, but far from World level right now & needs to continue @ British, Commonwealth & European level. I'd personally like to see him defent his Commonwealth title against the likes of Michael Zerafa, Issac Hardman or Steve Rolls.
