I know Booker is a tomato can, D level fighter, but Toney gave him the beating of his life.

Toney did win the fight. But he hardly looked impressive, and carried too much weight. His frame is not built to carry over 200 lbs, and I think he should weigh in at the HW limit if he fights Ruiz. Anything over would be uncivilized.

That is just plain hating on Booker OG.

he was busier than Toney for the most part. Toney had frequent periods of inactivity and looked mediocre.

mind you: I had Jirov ahead by 7 rounds to 5 at the end of their fight.
Toney is too hard to score. IMO.

Giving Jirov rounds on sheer activity would be like giving Ray Leonard rounds against Hagler for having pretty flurries. 80% of Jirovs punches were meaningless and Toney was NEVER hurt in that fight. Toney was just loving the fact that he didn't have to press the action and could sit there and counter all night. He could have fought for 15 rounds...had the fight gone on any longer Jirov would have been KO'd. Jirov fought one of the best fights I've ever seen. His workrate was one of the most menacing I've ever seen at that weight, but James was just better. I had Toney winning 6-4-1 going into the final round.

As far as the Booker fight goes, I'd say he looked mediocre too based on the fact that he was fighting a bum. But you have to admit, his right-hook to the body, right uppercut was a thing of beauty. Johnny Louis will be eating a lot of those.

also the fact that he torn something in his bicep and never really used his left hand might have had something to do with how he looked in that fight.

And by the way. I have never seen Ruiz look as good as Toney did against Booker in any of his fights

Yeah. Toney looked unimpressive to say the least. I actually had Booker winning 4 or 5 rounds of that fight. Certainly Toney came on strong in the beginning and the end, but ate some punches in the process.

One thing also, is Toney likes to "Play Opossum"

he looks hurt on the ropes, but then counters with hard shots.
That being said: It is hard to tell if he is hurt in a fight. He looked hurt against Jirov, but I just dont know. He is kind of strange, James is. He looks like he wants to take a hot bath, or eat a sandwich during the fight occasionally. Its really odd.

I give him the benifit of the doubt and say that if he isn't actually sitting on the canvas, he probably isn't hurt and just wants a sandwich. Mmmmmm sandwich. I'll check you guys later.

The most hurt you'll ever see Toney is his fight with Mike Nunn (which he really wasn't that hurt in). He was eating some monsterous punches, that stopped other very good fighters like Kalambay, Curry, and Roldan.

We'd probably see him legitimately hurt if he stepped in with Vitali.
