I am trying to understand this back and forth, among promoters, boxers, and others, but what does being the face of boxing even mean?

Okay, but don't cry weight bullying after he has tactically dismantled Duck-Loma or make other nonsensical excuses afterwards.

In US everybody wants to be a star, celebrity. So, also boxers in US want to be called star of boxing mostly based on their SM popularity. Stars in US are divas. So, these boxers want to be divas.

Somebody should tell him, Davis is already 'one' of the elite faces of boxing, and he is not.

And the way that Golden Boy allowed, and PBC and Mayweather Promotions stacked the deck against him in this fight, his chances of being the "face of boxing" are slim and none.

And....once the swelling goes down...well we'll see what his face looks like then.

the real face of boxing would have no need to declare themselves the face of boxing

Floyd gave Tanks ass the boot from him using his Gym and you think MP is/was part of this fight lol??

Davis is a draw but it's mainly within the hip-hop,rap culture/audience and is not a mainstream attraction in the sense that Canelo and Joshua are, but not many are so no knock on him there. Ryan on the other hand with his social media presence, looks, charisma, sponsors, fighting style and ability to form coherent sentences has the potential to easily surpass the likes of Tank and Spence, reaching Canelo level stardom in one fell swoop with a dominant win over Tank.

Whether that happens come April 22 remains to be seen but no one here can deny the potential is there.

The winner of this will definitely elevate themselves, at least until Crawford/Spence and Usyk/Fury winners take the spotlight .

You think those fights actually happen?

Inoue v Fulton has a better shot of taking the shine off, since that's actually a real fight with a date. Canelo could get himself back in the mix if he beats Bivol or Benavidez or both. Tall orders, but who knows. Loma will likely be back in the spotlight if he beats Haney as well. Not sure how Haney winning will look, especially if he moves up after.
