    Thoughts on Tyson Fury?

This is when he really crossed over, I think, really put himself on the map with his first serious shit talking:

Getting up from that KD in the first Wilder fight was that kind of once-in-a-lifetime sight (if you consider he then put his arms behind his back after getting up).

But all the comedy, all the stuff he's done in the ring... he seems to have really thrown it away. Such a shame.

Right now I'm waiting for him to tell Joshua he's got 30 seconds to sign a contract (or maybe not after Saturday's performance) and then sign up for Derrick Chisora IV.

Nah Fury was a kind of a joke back then. Most people felt Price would beat him, he was a big underdog vs Haye.

Fury only started getting respect after he went to Germany as a big underdog and ended Wlad’s historic reign. Even still, the media really went after him for his archaic views and controversial comments.

Then he had the mental breakdown/drugs ban and the redemption story began, but a lot of people, me included wrote him off when he said he’d come back at like 25-30 stone.

Going to American and ripping the title from Wilder was what truly cemented Fury. That was the moment he became the face of British boxing and one of the biggest stars in boxing.

Sorry, when I say someone's "arrived", I rank them in the following order of importance:

          1. Are they funny?
          2. Are they a dish?
          3. Do they have a gimmick/catchphrase?
          4. Are they a good boxer.

As you can see, the importance of his boxing is quite low down there.

As for ripping the title from Wilder, while impressive, isn't actually THAT impressive, given that Wilder fights like he's got down syndrome... albeit with a nuclear bomb in his right hand.

It's the double glance to the interviewer before he says the last bit that gets me.

30 seconds to sign a contract is generous. AJ is ducking.

Yeah he was definitely a character, I remember watching that live on Channel 5, think it was at a DeGale card if I remember correctly.

Wilder was a 40-0 HW champion with 10 defences, in his prime, who’d knocked out every one he’d ever fought. Despite his glaring technical flaws, I still think that was a superb win.

Barely anybody expected him to beat Wilder the way he did too, I thought he could outbox him on the back foot, did not think in a million years he’d walk him down and maul him like he did.
