I get the people saying Valenzuela needed to get Colbert out of there but I don't think that charge changes that it's a bad decision. Yes, it is true, but it is also true he's 23 fighting a guy in Colbert who, I think it'd be hard to deny, is a skillful boxer. Plenty of guys have gone to close the show and gotten clipped and anyone who's been in there knows there's a fine line between disciplined and passive but also between pressing and reckless. Let's not pretend it is easy for anyone, let alone a guy early in his career learning on the job.

Colbert had his moments, he picked it up and boxed well for portions of this fight. Still, Valenzuela boxed better and, I thought, clearly won more rounds.

Valenzuela broke the second rule of boxing. 1 is protect yourself at all times. 2 is don’t leave it in the judges hands. It was a close fight, Valenzuela said post fight he was having fun. Didn’t take care of business and lost the decision in a close fight. It happens and while I had Valenzuela, it wasn’t a robbery.

Villa vs speedy was not a robbery. Ellis gassed 2nd half and got dropped twice in the last round he lost fair and square. This is the dumbest post I’ve seen on a an inherently dumb thread lol
