I think David's target of a future Nelo fight is a good motivation to do well in his upcoming Plant fight...

Wow, he still doesn't get it. That ship has sailed. Canelo doesn't even have to face him to taste victory, just watching him beg for a big payday tastes just as good. On top of that, Canelo has the option of facing Bivol if he feels pressured to go big or say get a belt at 175 and let Beterbiev take care of business.

I’m new at this, but is this what’s called looking past an opponent? Because I heard you shouldn’t do that.

Canelo has slowed down enough in the last few years, that the wear and tear is starting to show big time, and he doesn't have more than 1-3 fights in the lime light.
Bs, canelo hasn't slow down, the competition has been better, even an old ggg is way better than smith, fat saunders fieldi g and yildrim, not to mention bivol. He's in his prime

He must focus on Plant, not look too far ahead at possible fights with Canelo, Bivol and Beterbiev.

He could get those fights even if he loses to Plant, although some shine would be off.

Benavidez has a weak resume and today fighting with someone that also has a weak resume. Only good fighter on plant resume is Canelo. You can’t fight cab drivers then get upset that the best boxers don’t fight you .

Its just reality that all great fighters can only go to the well so many times. Benavidez is due a great win, before he achieves anything else in the sport. Its how much he can do after beating Nelo
