GGG sold out his legacy.

I was always a GGG fan. Never a superfan, but I did always give him the benefit of the doubt, and still think the first two Canelo fights were wrong decisions.

But lately some things really bothered me.

It started with him dropping his belt, and to me it seemed like he ducked Lara. That could have been a great fight with two past-prime greats who are still very good. GGG being a force who corners opponents and then pounds on them, and Lara being the playful boxer, it would have been an exciting matchup.

And I've also recently saw something that GGG twitted after the 3rd Canelo fight that really bothered me. He posted "Friendship has won" (see tweet below).

So that and the fact that he gave up his belt to not fight Lara left a bad taste, and makes me feel like much of the Canelo drama was just an act, and that he just cashed out.

I get it, money is money and if you can make plenty and leave this brutal sport with your health more or less intact, that's excellent business. But it just doesn't seem like something a true great sportsman boxer warrior would do.

Maybe GGG will have some sort of redeeming fight before retiring. But for now it seems to me that GGG has sold out. That's my opinion and that's where I stand.

I was a big fan of prime GGG. A felt like Canelo wanted to duck him. I also still think GGG beat Canelo.

But, at the end of the day, it seems GGG never wanted to fight anybody with the name except Canelo.

he got his canelo money so id say hes happy but he lost fans along the way, even tho he did have a good scrap with chenko he wasnt willing to take any more risks & we all knew how the 3rd canelo fight would go anyway

What he did was create generational wealth for his family.

He was already 35 by the time he finally got the first Canelo fight. I don't know what it is you think he should have done instead of waiting that one out.

50% GGG beat Canelo 7-5, at worse 6-6 tie
25% GGG lost to Canelo 7-5

Too bad we never got to see Canelo/Charlo/etc against 100% GGG.

I hear what Vlad's saying, but when GGG got everyone duckin him at his peak, I ain't too mad at him for "selling out" towards the end

this is prize fighting. he's known Canelo since he was a teen.









Canelo gave him 3 fights at peak popularity. Now GGG's children and grand children will all eat.

If he signed to fight Lara, it would be 'why is he fighting a 40 year old Lara who's done nothing but fight bum's since losing to Hurd'? hes ducking xyz! If he doesn't, its because he's ducking!
whatever he does makes the loons on here frothy mouthed in a frenzy.

He can't pull the trigger anymore and should probably retire, but i'd like to see him fight Janibek in Kazakhstan tbh.

It's hard to name a great fighter who doesn't sell out his legacy. Most fighters hang around too long and it's hard to resist the big pay outs.

He's 40, and doesn't owe the fans anything at this point. He was robbed twice in the first two Canelo fights, maybe that is what's driving his recent decisions to drop belts and shun a fight with Lara. His way of saying F-you back to boxing. Outside of HBO, the boxing establishment didn't appreciate him, which may be discouraging for someone who gave it his all in every fight. A win over a shot Lara doesn't do anything for his legacy. Perhaps he just wants to ride off into the sunset with a few money grabs, which he's entitled to at this point. I don't think he's pretending to be something he isn't.
