Porter hates Mexican fighters I rarely if ever heard him root for the Mexican even when it's a given he says "he cheers for the other guy".

Funny thing is his wife is Mexican but like most bruthas they dislike Mexican boxers because of the threat.

Benavidez is a blunt object, there is nothing subtle about his approach, which has been effective until now: a bully-boy, pressure fighter, who throws volumes of punches, not with concussive power but hard enough to get your attention, the cumulative effect wearing you down, leading to stoppage. So, the intelligent question to ask is: how do you deal with a pressure, volume fighter? I think the X-factor here will be the influence of legendary Breadman, Caleb's new coach, who will have done his homework and have several pathways the fight can follow, with a strategy for each. Not long ago, maybe a month, I don't recall off-hand, there was a fight precisely like this, with a tall pressure fighter (was he from Argentina?) and a slick unbeaten US fighter who won almost every round until he got knocked down twice, or three times, twice in the last round leading to an unlikely win for the pressure fighter (personally I thought the US fighter won, boxing happens in ROUNDS not knockdowns). I think THAT fight is a potential blueprint. You have to outslick the pressure fighter, frustrate him, counter him, in and out, good footwork, but throw enough to steal the rounds and like Bivol against Canelo, concentrate 100% for every round until the end. You don't have to knock a fighter like DB out, that would be counter-intuitive because he likes a scrap. Intelligence over brute force. Consequently, if CP can concentrate for 12 rounds, I tip him to win a close decision maybe 2/3 judges giving him the nod.

Head and shoulders? No but better sure, but none of those fights had previously been stopped unlike Plant, who can't take punishment. Look how quickly he folded from Canelo's shots which were not even that clean.

Much harder to outslick a pressure fight when he is very long and at least as fast as you. It usually happens when the slicker fighter has a hand speed advantage. The X factor David has is he has amazing hand speed plus everything else. That changes everything.

Agreed - I think a lot of the pre-fight hype and countdown shows (All-Acces , Revenge Tour) are painting Caleb as a 50-50 live dog, but I really don’t see a scenario in which Plant walks away a winner. I’m putting 1k on David.

Same here. 1-2k on Bene was the original plan but that might get bumped to 3-4k as the fight nears, depending on the odds.

I cant see David breaking down I think he will be tough as nails, I see Plants best chance is with a perfect shot which comes in through a very brief window.

Good video indeed. Benavidez never even worked his legs. As someone who is in the gym on and off I know 1st hand how much more powerful one can be when they work the legs so Benavidez will look like a monster in there now that he's added that to his training with memo....

There’s a reason why he has continually drained himself to unhealthy levels for years because he is a monster in the division. He knows the moment he moves up the gig is over. This is why his father and David himself won’t move up. The monsters of the division Bivol/Beterbiev show him what the sweet science is about. His father knows he won’t be able to employ the only tactic he knows to utilize (walking someone down). Beterbiev will stand his ground and violently KO Bene while Bivol would box him senseless and counter with ease.

Bivol himself says otherwise after sparring countless rounds with Benavidez. and Benavidez was 2 pounds under 168 or so last time. Clown

Is it just me or does Sean Porter kind of act like Kirk herbstreit? Does he tend to pick the team or the person that shouldn't win? Always going with the underdog? Someone else used to do that I think Lou Corso on college football game day. Always going with the underdog no matter what. Maybe they do this because that way if they end up being right it makes everybody else look bad. Anything that Sean and Tim Bradley say I don't even listen to or bother to read.
