Regis Prograis vs Blair Cobbs (Hypothetical)

As dumb as this match up might sound let me put down some context:

Maurice Hooker and Regis Prograis had amateur history together and had bad blood, in April 17, 2020 they were going to fight at a catchweight of 143 but due to Hooker having difficulty making light welterweight he pulled out as stated by his former trainer Brian McIntyre.

After having a comeback fight by a 1 round TKO win and receiving a loss to Vergil Ortiz Jr. He went on to a hiatus for a year and had lost a close friend, having lost motivation, came overweight and underperformed, looking sluggish in his comeback against Cobbs.

How would Regis Prograis fair against Blair Cobbs if he were to move up to 147 right now?

Blair Cobbs is currently 18-1 with 10 knockouts while Regis Prograis is 28-1 with 24 knockouts.

I would favor Prograis in this fight....the size difference doesn't make up for the gap in skill and ability to make championship level adjustments in fights.

Lets get Cobbs vs Villa going.

Well, Prograis did defeat former world champions at their prime like Flannegan, Indongo, Relikh and Zepeda, all by the way of KO.

While Cobbs in the other hand lost to Rocha while just defeating a shot Solomon and Hooker. However, there is a big physical disparity being that Regis is actually a bit smaller compared to most at 140 standing at 5'8 while Cobbs is a big welterweight standing at 5'11.

It is true that there might be a (big) gap in skill, but physical advantages in cobbs favor might even the odds. He also had put explosive performances, such as knocking Hooker 4 times inside 2 rounds in a row and put a decent fight with Rocha.

Regis stops him late but I’d love the build up.

I don’t think it would even be very competitive. Prograis by a lot.

Beating that shot to **** version of Hooker doesn't mean much to me.

I would put Rocha, Cobbs, and Benn all on the same lower 10 echelon of the WW division. Decent contenders.

Regis will make Cobbs look like a sparring partner. PERIOD. Anyone who tries to over analyze the match up to make it seem like Cobbs would be competitive can not be taken seriously.

The marketing for the fight would be entertaining though as Cobbs becomes a character in the same manner a WWE star would... but fight night would be a early exit for Cobbs. His size advantage won't do much for the skill disadvantage. And he's not a huge puncher so his size won't make a difference.

Interesting take, I am assuming that you favor Prograis his odds over the likes of Rocha and Benn yes?

Regis just turned 34 years old so he might actually move up sooner than most think.

Ouch , I didn't even think Cobbs won, I just tried to apply an argument to see if the size difference would even the odds.

No offense to the poster or any fighter for that matter.

but Cobbs and Prograis shouldn’t even be in the same sentence
