    They make no difference really.
The belts are part of a ranking system that although not perfect, represent a third party measure that brings credibility to any claims of being the best. You win a title and you are now one of the top guys in the division if not the best.

You don't think Tank vs Garcia would be better if there were legitimate belts involved?

No not at all tbh, I don’t see how a belt being on the line makes it a better fight.

Take Gatti-Ward as an expample. I don’t think a title being on the line adds anything to that trilogy.

They prove they don't matter in terms of popularity. But for an already popular fighter, they add more intrigue. Look at Canelo's undisputed fight with Plant. It was his biggest PPV in years. It also is important for many fighters in terms of money. Many promotional contracts pay a fighter more for earning or defending a belt.

Maybe, but Canelo benefitted from being on Showtime which is a far bigger platform than DAZN. That’s the main reason why that fight did much better numbers than his DAZN fights. They did use the Undisputed angle to help sell the fight though so I get your point.

However, Canelo-Chavez Jr did far better numbers than Canelo-Plant and that had no belts on the line, that obviously had HBO though which is an even bigger platform than Showtime.

Yes belts matter, but all big fights don't have to be title fights.

I’m a hardcore boxing fan, but I’ll openly admit I’m way more excited about Tank-Garcia than any other fight scheduled.
              Im more excited for Fulton/Inoue

I guess to each their own. The significance of the belts makes every fight better for me, and it would make the Tank vs Garcia fight better too in my book.

You understand a rating can be bought, so its not a reference to ability at all it can easily be a shady under-the-table rating, how in the hell can a trophy stand on its own and state the holder must be elite and of great ability that doesn't even work with an Olympic gold medal as the skater running last and the field falls and he wins shows clearly, its only a label that on its own has no reference to a fighter's ability in any head to head conversation.

Great fight as well but I just think Tank-Garcia will be explosive from the first bell.

                      Fair enough man.

The belt just doesn’t add anything for me, mainly because it doesn’t change the action in the ring.
