    Belts always matter.
In every sport, there will be regular season games that many say are better than post season games.

Belts are a way of thanking the best boxer for being the best of that div.

Now someone needs to prove that guy is not the best.

Been this way since the sport been around.

I’m a hardcore boxing fan, but I’ll openly admit I’m way more excited about Tank-Garcia than any other fight scheduled.
You probably payed for the Paul fights huh?

People hate belts like they hate banks but both are necessary.

Belts are not the problem. The sport is.

Garcia has never seen a belt. Davis won a single WBA super at 130 lbs. Until they accomplish something in the sport, belts matter.

It's one of the reasons why inactivity is a perennial occurrence in boxing. Instead of taking advantage of their primes, they'd rather just wait for a belt that don't even guarantee good income. Instead of making a name for themselves by being active and seen often, they have to depend on the next big star and hope to take away what that star accomplished and went through before becoming one.

An intriguing matchup between two superstars can trump any championship fight. Tank and Garcia also have huge fan bases (who some don’t even regularly watch boxing) so that add another factor. If one of them was a belt holder it wouldn’t really add anymore significance to the casual boxing viewer.

Hell, I’m expecting the greedy ass WBC to create some pointless belt for this fight anyhow.

Neither has beaten anyone worth much of a damn. Gervonta could have Loma scalp on his resume years ago. Ryan has beaten some random contender level guys, but could've gotten a Haney scalp and all the belts. The best fights in the sport right now are Spence-Crawford(all belts), Beterbiev-Bivol(all belts), Fury-Usyk(all belts), Inoue-Fulton(multiple belts), etc. The best guys win belts and then face the other guys with belts. They don't dodge their mandatories, or forget about their mandatory position conveniently. Yoyo'ing and beating guys in higher divisions who are of lower caliber or bringing up smaller guys to their weight class is some trash **** that boxing fans have gotten so used to.
