Comments Thread For: Canelo Expects Benavidez to Defeat Plant on March 25

Canelo Alvarez doesn't think that one of his former opponents necessarily has what it takes to defeat David Benavidez. Alvarez, the Mexican superstar and current undisputed champion in the 168-pound division, offered his thoughts on an intriguing, 12-round super middleweight bout between Benavidez and Caleb Plant that will take place March 25 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Showtime Pay-Per-View.

Inside the mind of a boxer that handpicks his opponents. Canelo gave you the reasons he decided to step in the ring with Plant, and the reasons why he's avoiding a matchup with Benavidez.

"Orthodox cutie". What in the hell is that?

And yeah, Canelo wants nothing to do with Benavidez.

Canelo is showing that he notices that Benavidez is a force to be reckoned with. It should be a very good fight, and Plant might not be as easy to break down as Canelo did.

Canelo also expects that he's going to whoop Bivol in a rematch. Not exactly a reliable narrator.

All the top fighters of the last 10 years have one thing in common, they don’t want to leave the sport in embarrassing fashion and help others build a name for themselves.

Canelo doesn’t want to fight anybody that will make him look foolish in there or stop him because it really puts his career in question.

Danny Garcia,Keith Thurman, Errol Spence and even Crawford don’t want to give a young hungry top prospect a opportunity to beat them but all four of those guys been beating up on older smaller former champions so they can build a name for themselves but don’t want to do the same now since they’re in the twilight stages of their career?

Where would Danny Garcia be if he didn’t get the opportunities to fight the fighters he fought at 140? What if Morales,Khan,Holt, Peterson deciding that Garcia was a nobody and that he had to build his own legacy and not using them to stardom? Haha double standards, they guys don’t want to get off the pot and still think they’re “superstars”

I am not fan of Canelo's predictions. Except Garcia vs Tank, he favours Mexicans or Latins always. And, that's just because Tank is his favourite fighter.

Okay, you're the biggest nationalist. Got it.
