Comments Thread For: Eddie Hearn Expects WBC To Call Beterbiev-Smith Next

Callum Smith will probably be out of action for a couple of months. The Liverpool light-heavyweight (29-1, 21 KOs) was set to return to the ring later this week in his home city. Smith, who is the mandatory challenger to Artur Beterbiev's WBC title, had been slated to face Poland's Pawel Stepien (18-0-1, 12 KOs) over 12 rounds at the M&S Bank Arena on Saturday (March 11), exclusively live on DAZN.

I thought you wanted to make Bivol-Beterbiev in June?

Beterbiev has called your bluff and has said he’s available too.

Why would you be pushing for the WBC to call the mandatory if you wanted Bivol vs Beterbiev next?

Another cancellation mysterious injury so they can line up a different fight. I guess that is the only way out in the contract.

Mike McCallum at 66 would have more chances of beating Beterbiev than the other Callum.

Putting aside the Beterbiev-Bivol fiasco, does Smith even stand a chance at making this an interesting fight? Or will Artur clobber him within three? I must admit I haven't kept up with Smith as much as I should; I've seen a few or more of his fights, but his biggest claim to my memory is getting smashed by Canelo, and that doesn't inspire confidence concerning his chances against Beterbiev.

Hearn is allowed to ply his corrupt ways along with the world belt-makers committee (WBC) and the best fights get put aside by this mans pure greed. He himself said the big one was next and now that Smith pulled out of his fight for this reason no doubt , he will get a chance , no chance against Beterbiev @ 175lbs when he couldn't even win a round at 168 v Canelo.I must add for his fighters and himself , Hearn makes the money and with the fighter side I'm happy for the fans he continues to disguise the truth.
