Ponce was really unloading some firepower in those early rounds but Matias weathered it and started to really unload his arsenal. Better to stop too soon than too late, Matias is a punishing hitter and we've seen first hand what the consequences can be. RIP Dadashev.
Stoppage was a joke this is boxing. He wasn’t hurt he was coherent he wasn’t even wobbled and the trainer threw in the towel. That’s not courageous or heroic
How do you know he wasn't hurt? Do you have some kind of special ability to feel someone else's pain, or lack thereof?
Usually it's those who have never entered a boxing ring, that have the most gut's with someone else's blood, sweat, tear's, and even life.
I'll remind, or inform you that Matias has sent at least 4 opponent's to the hospital, and one to the cemetery, I don't know if Ponce was the 5th to be hospitalized.
The fighter who subsequently passed away after his brutal battle with Matias, wanted to continue the fight, but his corner stopped it, except that it was already to late to save him.
Imagine just how difficult it must be to explain that to his grieving widow, and how much she'll struggle raising their child.
I can only respect his approach. The fighter has to be okay with this, if not they can always go to a different trainer. But it's hard to find people with integrity that care about the fighters like this trainer.

I know he wasn’t hurt because I was watching the fight. Also based on what the trainer said himself with ponces response to his questions lol. It was an even fight. Like not saying let him go out on his shield or take a prolonged beating but that wasn’t what was taking place. It was a competitive fight. Y’all act like Mathias is unbeatable. He’s not. He’s been beat recently. To anyone that claim this trainer is a hero..give yourself heads a shake. “He answered all my questions correctly” why even ask these questions if u feel ur fighter is compromised? Why disregard his answers? Why even ask if you’ve already decided to stop the fight? If u were so concerned why let him finish the round regardless of how long was left? More likely he had money on the over/under lmao.Regis will light Mathias up badly if they ever fight that’s a mismatch

I'm not saying that Matias is unbeatable, but you couldn't convince Ponce of that on 2/25/2023. Ponce had shot his load, was spent, couldn't hurt Matias, and was starting to feel Matias murderous punching power. The trainer gave his honest reason's for why he stopped the fight, but that's not good enough for you.
You have to stoop so low as to say that he had bet money on the fight, although that has happened in fight's, if you don't know that to be a fact, you shouldn't say it.
New Flash! Prograis has also been defeated already, and unlike Matias, Prograis hasn't beaten his conqueror to even the score.
Moreover Petros Ananyan who won a close decision against Matias had to go to the hospital after both of their fight's.
Lastly if, and when Matias, and Prograis ever fight, l believe it's going to be a contested battle of will's between the both of them, and there's no guarantee as to who will win that unification bout.
I know fans keep mentioning Dadashev but are all the trainers supposed to pull the plug early from now on because of him? Nobody wants to see fighters get seriously hurt but this is the nature of Boxing and anybody who step inside that squared circle knows what's at stake.
What if Goosen had thrown in the towel in Chico-Castillo 1 or some other fighter who scored come from behind KOs. Countless fighters from the past would have lost out on achievements and crowning moments had their trainers pulled them out.
