he gotta beat pac and mosley to be p4p #2... he needs to beat pbf to be p4p #1

imho its not cause he can't, its cause its not his style

    • One thing I don't get, is how Cotto gets so much **** for getting hurt/hit in fights. JMM has been down or hurt in every fight he's also been in, and he comes back and wins most of the time or loses very close fights... Yet Cotto fights with a vicious cut, knocked down against Torres, wobbled by Corley, hurt quite a few times by Judah, and in all those fights he's won but is heralded more as garbage than a warrior while for JMM its the complete opposite. Why? Because he's a counterpuncher and that's his style and thus he's going to get hit? While Cotto most of the time comes forward to break down his opponents and sure he's going to get hit, but that's just because he's sloppy and has bad defense?

I just don't get how people can say one thing about a fighter and think the complete opposite of another yet both have the same mentality in the ring. Cotto adjusts his style just as Marquez does, he has the timing to be a good counter-puncher, sure not as good as JMM, but Cotto is far and away the better aggressor of the two. That being said Cotto I feel has far better all around skills than Marquez and, yes, I do think Cotto is better P4P. Would I have said this before the Mayweather loss... I'm not sure, Marquez best fights are when the opponent comes to him and when he was put in there against someone who didn't come to him it showed how one-dimensional he may be.

Yes, the size advantage was obvious which is why I state JMM may be one dimensional. I'd like to see him fight Malignaggi or another boxer and see if he has a difficult time with them as well. If so it may have been no so much the size of Mayweather but his style. I'm not saying Cotto doesn't have problems with fighters either, but he's never been outclassed as Marquez was in any of his fights. Even with the cut or Brick fisted Margarito, up until Cotto the 6th round, it was another JMM vs Mayweather exhibition.

      • Cotto has 1 loss, Manny Pacman has like 8 losses. Finished.

Street commenting on the 'rito-Cotto fight in another thread. You tell me he doesn't hate Cotto, and this thread was nothing more than flamebait. How can any boxing fan watch any boxer take such a brutal, bloody beating that Cotto took, and lasted 11 rounds, never even getting ko'd, and say, "i loved every moment of it."

That's just plain st8 out hate. careful, SB, you're starting to take on the characteristics of the guy in your avatar!
          Nice debating with ya, Bully...cya!

          • No Cotto lucky to be top ten off the last couple years, his debacle with Clottey just showed he's privileged and will allow him to be someones else s stepping stone. He looked aight against Gomez & Jennings & that's it as of the last few years.
