Cotto wasn't countering Paulie that much, he was just outmuscling him. He was able to control the fight beacuse he caught Paulie early, I belive the KD was in the second round. He's just too strong for Paulie, and all that accumulation of punches made Paulie even weaker. This definitely had an impact on Paulie's speed.

That being said, Paulie was still having some success and was able to outbox him in the middle rounds.

Just look at their other fights, dude. Paulie is fast as ****. He looked lightning quick against Diaz. Cotto is a guy who takes his time, he's very very patient in there. Paulie lets his hands go like a madman, and he can do it because he is fundamentally sound, as well as very, very fast. If Cotto tried to do that he'd lose all his energy by the 5th round, as well as get countered constantly.

In that fight Cotto was weak as hell. he was weight drain as **** and look dead at the weight in.

I think so, I mean that was very very bad defense Marquez showed in the mayweather fight. I used to just look at Marquez's great offensive skills and timing skills which cotto has too but now I'm paying attention to Marquez's d a bit more.
