even Andrew Hartley can get wins in boxing if faced against the right guys.
what the hell...didnt you just knock him for not doing any type of matches, like amateur boxing, I named some boxers and you have a period. Its AMATEUR boxing. youre not going to know their names, especially if theyre from china.

One would have to speak with those close to him and who knew him well to get the undeniable facts about his potential as a boxer.

The majority agree he could handle himself in the squared ring. That was not his forte, but I'm sure he could handle himself.

I read he cross-trained with boxers while he was in Seattle. I think they said he'd be a top 1-2 in his class if he pursued it. The boxers were amazed of his speed and strength. It's been awhile though since I read it...it told alot more.

I understand what you're saying...along the lines of Mike Tyson in his prime takes Bruce Lee out fast. But, the question to that is: Does Bruce Lee get to use his kicks? If so, the Flying Dragon Kick makes Mike go to sleep pretty quick. If it's by boxing rules only, then Lee would need a big ring to have a go at it.
            Flying Dragon Kick. hmm.
lets see some video of that.

That was not the only heavy bag he trained on. And besides, he trained on a heavy bag to develop power in his punches much like everyone else does. Hand positions, for defense purposes, are irrelevant at this point.
Anyone can hit a heavy bag any way they please. It's not like the bag is hitting back.

How do you know if he did or did not change hands positions in other training sessions based on this short clip?

I'm sure there were many feats of strength performers that topped what Bruce and Paddy Doyle did. That's not the point here.
how did you miss the most important part? BRUCE DIDNT HAVE THAT MUCH POWER. and his punching leverage was amateurish.

and generally, youre supposed to practice some head movement and defense in when your hitting the heavy bag, so that in a real match you dont get ktfo while trying to throw a power punch. but I guess thats just a difference in training methods.

I dont see whats so amazing.

even low level boxers, even with gloves on against barefisted karate guys, usually put them away pretty quickly.

I wouldn't doubt it. He was trying to incorporate different attributes and boxing was a core component. He found the hand positions and footwork of a boxer to be more efficient and economical when striking.

Plus he was fond of studying old Ali and Dempsey fights while he developed his art.

its yall that bring up the Bruce Lee did 'very well' in amateur boxing, not me.

I mean, itd be nice if he actually faced someone semi good before you claim that he would do very well in boxing. almost anyone can get KOs over nobodies.

Precisely. People train for different reasons or purposes.

I'd like to know how you know he didn't have that much power when those who trained with him have consistently said and will say otherwise for years.

Perhaps you should contact one of his closest living friends Dan Inosanto to get the straight scoop on the man's capabilities. Hell, even Kareem Abdul Jabbar would vouch for the man's skills and capabilities from first hand accounts. There are plenty others in the know who will repeat the same claims.

Unfortunately, he's not alive to show us.

And anybody can look good against unskilled fighters.

I never said he won the golden gloves or he was a prized olympian. For the fights he did have, he did very well. Dont twist what I'm telling you. You told me he never had any amateur experience and I just informed of you some.
