I've taken a hard look and tried to triangulate to get a sales projection.

Manny sold 400K with marquez. Manny has sold less than Floyd with every common opponent. Manny sold 800K+ with hatton, and hatton is much more popular than Cotto. more dynamic and charismatic.

Cotto sold 400K-ish with margarito. Supposedly- it was a TR promotion. The gate on that fight wasnt great. Just 10,000. Previously, Cotto had been on the lowest-rated WCB show ever.

That's all the data I looked at. I kept asking myself if and why this fight would do better than hatton. i just don't see it. My forecast would be 700K, with 800K on the highside.

I think this is a terrific fight fan's fight, but not a mainstream fight. Neither guy has a personality, and neither has appeal or recognition outside of boxing circles. Their fanbases kind of overlap.

For Pacquiao to show that he is a draw, this fight would need to soundly beat Numero Uno. Pac needs to do about 1.3 mil.

I don't see that happening.

He had to resort to a fake gangsta image, wwe, dancing with the stars, overtly tiresome acts in order to solidify attention & some status INSTEAD OF LETTING HIS FIGHTS & HIS CHOICE OF OPPONENTS DICTATE HIS GREATNESS.

Again i doubt you will find many Floyd fans who particuarly like the Gangstar crap he does, it sells though and he makes alot of money out of it playing the bad guy, so why all the hate?

Its not him. Thats the thing people get confused. He picks fights with fighters who have a big fan base. Why? Because their fans are going to buy the fight. Also fill the seats. Then hes gonna reep the benifits and take the credit.
You cant tell me that a fighter who gets booed every time he enters and leaves the ring has a big fan base and all these people booing him only come to fights. And his fans stay home....Yeah right. I hope this helps!

If Pac-Cotto sells under 1.1 or 1.2, it is a MAJOR disappointment. Arum has been touting 1.6MM+, with a target of The World Awaits.

The table is set for Pac to CRUSH it. But i don't think he can do it.

For the start i was agreeing then it rapidly went down hill For months all we were hearing was Floyd/Marquez struggling to sell tickets and Cotto/Pac fans laughing at this. Now the real numbers have come in and its done very well, sure we will talk about it.

Who actually brought up the ppv thing btw? thats right a Floyd hater in Getsumbrah, previously we were talking about boxing resume of Floyd/Pac..

Why is it important for us to know how many...it proves nothing! Fighters prove **** in the ring... Fans buy tickets an PPVs to watch fights. Not to see how much it does. It means nothing!

I'm not seeing alot of hype to Cotto vs. Pacquiao. I'm really not, I'm gonna buy the PPV but not hearing much. Roach is doing all the talking and I think that's SAD.

I'll say the majority were quite satisfied with their purchase. And that is even after Arum and Freddie, and not to mention ALL the haters, stated that the fight would bomb, that nobody would pay to see a runner, that Floyd wasn't the draw, Dana and UFC on the same night, AAAAAAaaannd there's a recession going on.

The fact is the fight did very well, and many people were proven wrong.

But admitting one is wrong hurts more than making excuses for why the fight did so well to begin with.

you fail to realise that the pac vs marquez took place before pac vs oscar & hatton wins. those wins helped pac's star power & has probably pushed him into the american sports mainstream for good.

The funny thing about all of this is that mr.counterfeit cash's return & resounding victory vs marquez & ppv sales will inadvertently help pac vs cotto. his return will put so much more emphasis on this match up. it will do better than numero uno IMO.
