Notice that he used the word blessing, not permission. As an adviser, he should and does tell his fighters if they are making a smart move, or what they should be looking for in order to accept fights, and probably goes over the ins and outs of contracts and negotiations. In the end, the fighters are free to do as they wish, but most, because of their loyalty and respect for his wisdom and expertise, not just in boxing but life outside of the ring, will normally take the steps that he recommends.
Its no different than your child after they reach adulthood, they may come to you for your blessing about certain moves they are about to make, and you can give them guidance and a blessing, or you can tell them why you disagree with it. But your child still has free will to make the final choice.Comment

This is why he's always been one of my favorite fighters, he's all heart and skills. Can one believe the fortitude of this guy? He displays a great deal of confidence and determination by fighting Inoue on his home soil.
He is another Devin Haney for the exception that he goes one further. He is the champion who is traveling to fight another man in his own country.
This is the type of fighter that the sport needs. Someone who is willing to sacrifice it all by giving us boxing fans the fights that we want to see. Why couldn’t Bud do the same?Comment

He used the word blessing. And then the word "allowed", which is synonymous with gaining permission.

Bud took on the dangerous Khan and Brook. Next for Bud is Broner and then Rocha. Those are ATG opponents according to his loyal fans.
