Yes, it's hard not to be cynical about this. They'll build him up against carefully matched opponents before sacrificing him against Canelo.

Berlanga does? Matchroom will have to get him a few decent wins before even thinking about Canelo. By that point, Canelo will have retired.

Just what Canalo needs, another tomato can opponent. He doesn’t want to fight anyone that has a chance to beat him. As long as he’s getting paid for fighting these stiffs, he will continue doing it.

I know the sport and I know promotional companies. Of course I know they won't feed Berlanga to the wolves on his first fight after they just signed him. They're going to want some return on investment. They'll build Berlanga up with SOME decent wins and then give a great backstory as to why he now deserves Canelo. The usual rinse and repeat boxing formula. Sure, Berlanga gets to go out with millions, but the point still sticks that he doesn't deserve the mega fight just yet when others that are well more established should be ahead in line. Even if they're all in a line to be KTFO.

Berlanga's got to fight fighter's ranked higher than his last couple of opponents who were Angulo # 39, and Coceres # 38.
Here are some of the following fighter's that he should consider fighting # 3 Andrade, #6 Shiskin, #7 Congora, # 9 Akhmedov, # 11 Silyagin, or # 22 Mosley.
Now if he can beat two, or three of these opponent's then he'll have earned a legitimate shot at Canelo, but he's got to to get in the ring, and start fighting again.

Straight out of the Golovkin playbook

An entire career of fighting no one of note trying to land that lottery ticket, history repeats itself yet again. Thanks a lot Golovkin, you got this fighters trying to do exactly the same thing you did

Damm, it is one thing for the likes of Charlo and Andrade to be seeking that Canelo payday but it is a whole other thing for the likes Munguia and Berlanga to be doing the same.
