Bivol is not really skill or skill levels above Alvarez. He just has greater endurance, foot speed, athleticism 'And a better long range game'.

Alvarez skill or skill has a better mid-inside game 'With a more sophisticated defense'.

What makes the match up difficult for Alvarez is his lack of elite level endurance, lack of gears and under-par movement 'Because of this he was not able to apply his best attributes vs Bivol'.

If Alvarez can somehow improve his endurance by 20%, and gets better at cutting off the ring and applying educated pressure 'I would give Alvarez a very serious chance of beating Bivol in the rematch at 175 pounds'.

That is why the fight at 168 pounds, he going to bring the fight back towards Alvarez. What makes Bivol good at 175 pounds, all those attributes are going to be effected at 168 pounds 'The man is already in peak condition at 175 pounds, his main attributes will be negatively effected'.

Bivol shut down canelo's "inside game" though. It was a completely different fight, what canelo was doing at 168 it wasnt working anymore. Its not just an endurance issue, canelo wasnt winning the opening rounds either. I saw the first 30 seconds that canelo couldnt even reach Bivol, he had excellent timing and sense of distance, and when canelo did get in close, bivol was blocking him.

      It's called challenging one's self.
He would get even more grief if he fought is easy pickings.

Alvarez also has a problem, when he gets tired he leans on the ropes to take a rest. He is like a punching bag when he does that.

Gvozdyk, Smith Jr, Yarde, Browne and Kalaidjic couldn't do it but a 5ft7 former MW roided midget is going to do it?

Alvarez is in the shallow end of great, but I don't think he's skilled enough to outbox Bivol

He doesn't school or destroy opponents in his biggest fights

about an Oscar de La Hoya level great

lacks the skills to be Mayweather great

nor is he the physical specimen to be Mike Tyson or manny pacq level
True but I think he can manage his punch output if he wanted to.

He's a smart boxer with a pretty high boxing IQ, despite being a plodder.

If he managed his punch output, he could easily beat a rather linear and zero special effects Bivol.

It would be boring and not what people would expect out of a Canelo fight but he would conserve his stamina and not fade against Bivol if he did do so.

Which means a rather simple way to victory for Canelo.

I have him as borderline great

probably won’t get the opposition to test if he’s great

Bivol pulls off some highly skilled boxing moves

such as pausing a punching sequence to make a counter miss and then resuming his offense
