I like this fight a lot. Old puncher Euro style vs. Old Cuban movement style. Too bad that it is all about the money at this point in their careers. Hopefully I am wrong, this would be a beautiful fight

The WBA is getting real close. The strawweights fight at the start of March and this one should be taken care of by then I believe.

That would leave Usyk/Dubois, Canelo/Morrell, Spence/Stanionis, and Haney/Davis. I believe by the end of 2023, Spence and Haney will be one weight class north of where they are now and those titles will be vacant.

Just gotta figure out Usyk/Dubois and Canelo/Morrell.

Goodness, gracious…Lara turns 40 in April and Golovkin 41 in the same month.

Lara doesn't really have any legs left though and recently been kinda ****ing it out in the pocket more or less. Though his last 4 opponents he outclassed by miles so he'd probably move more against Golovkiin.

Erislandy Lara is expected to make every effort to make this fight happen even at the point of bending over backwards.

Other than Lara mentioning Golovkin's name millions of times every chance he gets, WBA is his home title. Decubas always manages to somehow secure him a WBA belt after losing one.

He lost his 154 WBA belt to Hurd, which he held for 3 years and never unified with the Charlo brothers, but managed to secure another vs a guy nobody knew existed.

He defended his new belt with another nobody. Then secured a WBA middleweight vacant title vs a guy named LaManna. As you can see Lara and Decubas are fond of fighting for the WBA belt. I see zero reason why they'd be making excuses for this fight not to happen. This is supposed to be their number one priority. Other fights should happen later.

Oh man, you just summed up one very ugly face of boxing. How it's riddled with disgusting corrupt practices. Just shows there are indeed connivances, wheeling and dealing in the background and nobody knows how much bribe money is spent in exchange for long-term gain. And they get away with it despite of doing it again and again and again in broad daylight. No wonder Decubas' fighters are full of WBA titles on their record, Ugas, Morrell, Lara, Rigondeaux, etc.

That's not even the issue I have with these PBC fighters, although it's disgusting in itself as eloquently summed up by the previous poster. It's the constant lying and pretending that gets me. These PBC fighters can't even make fights in their own backyard which are supposedly easy to make, yet they have the audacity to call out fighters not in their own side of the street. Meaning, it won't happen, anyways.

Just look at the available guys in the 160 - 168 division for Lara. There's Charlo, who also just recently called out GGG for a unification. There's Adames, Derevyanchenko, Andrade, Morrell...

I love GGG, but I'm kind of rooting for Lara at this point.

GGG's legacy is set. It'd be nice to see Lara, a guy I think got robbed multiple times get a good send off and a pay day.
