Most boxers are delusional you have to be, to be fair it's hard to be extremely competitive and maintain your confidence in any environment if you don't constantly think you're the best despite it being delusional...

Now he's not just delusional he's taking it to Wilderesque levels of delusion which is frightening because at least Wilder had achieved SOMETHING.

Same thoughts. This man has had too many people (most recently his promoters) doubting his potential. He understands more than ever that he must cash out before he takes that first loss. Berlanga would be significant underdog against the other top 168lb contenders (Benavidez, Plant, Andrade, Morrell, Gongora...), so he is desperate to parlay his current name value into a marquee fight with Canelo. I doubt he gets that fight this year, but signing with Matchroom is probably his best bet to put him close to that possibility.

It’s too bad because Berlanga-Canelo could have been a huge huge fight, Berlanga just isn’t good enough for it to be credible.

What about Munguia? That’d be a big ppv and a bit more easily matched (although yes, Munguia still probably stops him).

Stick him in there with Jermall. Or Andrade.

This vatos closer to an arrest warrant than warranting anything from Alvarez.

Anyone in the top 10-20 would fight and KO this dude. He'll sign with Oscar and not fight anyone until a huge money day can be made. Munguia seems to have been fighting for years and went from a young prospect to a regional draw who avoids the world. Berlanga will be 30 before he fights someone of note if he signs with Oscar.

I'm conflicted as I do want all Boxers to be paid well but they should have to earn it.

Obviously he is talking out of his arse. He's no better than third tier in terms of commercial appeal. In terms of the arc of his career, he's not even really at the contender stage, which is a bit behind the curve for 25. And let's not forget that in his last fight, he bit his opponent and is lucky to still be allowed to box.

Berlanga looks like ideal Canelo`s victim.

If Canelo fights guys like Ryder, Berlanga....his fans will he on the new hype train again. Like, canelo is back on track, he is on another level again..
