Ward beat the **** out Kovalov's package. One of the absolute worst stoppages in recent boxing history.

Now he came up short again against Beterbiev who, despite his age, is still clearly a destructive and skilled fighter that no one has been able to go the distance with. Yarde's performance showed improvements than we saw against Kovalev. He lost but it was a great fight. Both get some measure of credit for this.

Canelo had the champion Kovalev come to his back yard to fight about 10 weeks after his 11-round fight against Yarde. No recovery time. Back-to-back training camps. This can't be dismissed. Combined with Kovalev's age, this raised some eyebrows. In the fight, Kovalev seemed to have no problem hitting Canelo with his jab, but there was evidently no snap on his punches, either by choice or necessity. Canelo eventually folded him in the eleventh. Kovalev showed little punch resistance, either through choice or necessity. Observers noted that the back-to-back training camps seemed to have taken something out of Kovalev. Kovalev himself confirmed the back-to-back training camps were gruelling and he thought it game him little chance of winning, but he couldn't say no to the money.

Most people accept that Beterbiev hits harder than Bivol and is just as tough. Canelo couldn't hurt Bivol. Yarde hurt Beterbiev. Canelo has never attempted to chase a Beterbiev fight. Make of that what you will.
My friend, you said many mouthfuls. Nothing for me to add. You should just drop the microphone.

Add guys like Ramirez Joe Smith (if Beterbiev hasn't retired him) and Marcus Browne for starters once you get past the domestic fighters. And obviously Bivol!

Warren will have to match Yarde even more carefully than he already has to even get him another title shot.
Funny you said that. Yarde dared to be great. Twice. Buatsi is content with the training wheels on. And who has Callum Smith fought since moving up to warrant a title shot? Asking for a friend.

I don't disagree at all with your comments regarding Buatsi and Callum Smith. I still think both beat Yarde. Thanks.

Beterbiev already said back home that he never said that to Yarde. Yarde is a clown

I just rewatched the fight without being blinded by fight night excitement, and while still a ripper of a fight, everything from the Yarde side - save the towel throw - seemed fishy. Beterbiev had a couple of shaky moments but nothing serious. Yarde, meanwhile, was beginning to gas as early as the 2nd round. I initially thought Beterbiev had knocked out his mouthpiece but on rewatch, it really looks like a stall from Yarde. And then there was the ref pulling up Yarde’s HILARIOUSLY padded trunks damn near to the nipple, and a near twenty second ten count. Let’s just say Beterbiev was on his way to a brutal robbery had he not scored the TKO. I mean… Maybe I’m wrong but the fight was much more favored to Beterbiev being in complete control than it was to Yarde making any significant strides during the fight.
