Hearns outgrew the Welterweight division naturally - he didn't move up just for the money - he couldn't have gone back to Welterweight at that point even if he had wanted to. He was the favourite to beat Hagler after the way he had decimated Duran, who had given Hagler a lot of problems.

By contrast, Hatton had already tried moving up once and had appeared much less strong at Welterweight against Collazo than at Jnr Welterweight. After the Collazo fight he had said that he didn't think he could be competitive at the higher weight and that he wouldn't fight at Welterweight again. He only took the fight against Floyd at Welterweight because (a) it was by far the biggest fight available to him, (b) Floyd refused to fight him at Jnr Welterweight or at catchweight, and (c) he thought he had a chance because Floyd was considered to be a small Welterweight.

I thought PBF and OScar had an appointed fight for somewhen in September... But PBF decided to "end his career"... Why did he do so? I think cause Oscar had found a receipt how to beat PBF during his loss, and could beat him the second time they fought (i don`t think you`d tell that their fight wasn`t close...) and Mayweather was pretty smart to realise that... I think the second reason why PBF "retired" was that he was a lineal welterweight champion and had a Cotto/Margarito upcoming... And really strong (and i think the best ever) Welterweight division to take care of...

You say that 5 rounds + a KD for Judah wasn`t possible in that fight?

Or haven`t you seen the fight? Judah hit PBF with the right hook in the second round (i guess... i really watched that long ago ) and mayweather had to touch the canvas with his glove to keep balance.

I still think its BS that its ok for one guy, but not the next.

I understand COMPLETELY what you are laying down, but for someone to say Hatton wasnt a legit fight and he was smaller and give Floyd no credit for it it ******ed. Hatton was the reigning Jr. WW champ moving up 1 weightclass in which, regardless what anyone wants to say, was competitive enough to win a belt over a VERY GOOD fighter in Collazo. A Collazo who many people think beat another belt holder Andre Berto not too long ago. An Andre Berto that Shane Mosley may or may not be fighting soon. Andre Berto might not end up being an ATG but it says something about Ricky at WW.

PS- Please nobody come at with with "Triangle theory doesnt work."

Look at this picture and compare their lower body. You might even think Hatton was bigger.

This pic is even more crazy, watch their lower body again. Mayweather had the slightly bigger upper body, Hatton had the MUCH bigger lower body.

The Hatton fight would have been okay if he'd also defended his title against some top Welterweight contenders, but he didn't. Hagler defended his title many times against top Middleweight contenders. You simply can't defend someone for not fighting a top Welterweight contender even once since winning the lineal title three years ago, especially as the Welterweight division has been the strongest division in the sport for much of that time.

And you say that Collazo was VERY GOOD but most Floyd fans claim that Mosley, Margarito, Cotto and Clottey aren't good enough to be considered for a fight with Floyd! Almost no one would give Collazo even an outside chance against any of those four fighters.

And what I find particularly sickening is that he now says or at least strongly implies he doesn't want to fight the man most people regard as the world's best Welterweight, and most of his so-called fans think that's just fine and dandy. Their attitude is truly sick.

I have tremendous respect for the Floyd fans like Wess and SkillsPayBills who have been criticising Floyd for that. But there are precious few Floyd fans who have been.

Only Floyd fans judge what weight class someone should fight in on the basis of photos! The rules of boxing are that the weight class is defined by the weight you can make at the weigh in. Hatton's weight class was Jnr Welterweight. Floyd did not defend his lineal Welterweight title even once against a Welterweight.
