***Mayweather HBO interview last night***
Did anyone see the HBO interview with Mayweather last night?
Kind of discouraging if your one that thinks him and Mosley should fight. I know Mosley had a chance a few years ago but whats more fitting than now if they both got in the ring and fought with the winner taking on the winner Nov 14 (Cotto).
Mayweather only mentioned Mosley's name when it was brought up, he stated that Mosley had a great career and he wished him the best. Mayweather didn't really comment on anyone, no name drops, nothing. The interview seemed pointless to me other than Mayweather apologizing to the HBO staff for not making weight.... I didn't really understand that....
From a boxing fans perspective and a realistic fan of Mayweathers, this fight should happen. The winner fighting the winner from Nov 14th could generate more hype and excitement than any fight in my 27 years.... Plus in order for people to accept Mayweather's statements, he needs to fight and beat Mosley. Let alone a top WW. I couldn't agree more and I only wish that it happens. The cash money is there, the plot is there, the story needs to be told in the ring. The fight would be GREAT and it would open the winner up to a HUGE payday unlike anything anyone has seen to date.
Why it wont happen is beyond me. I can only hope it does! Please boxing god, give us what we want....... Christmas is coming up and I haven't said ANYTHING bad about Joe Calzaghe in a long time!!!!!!!!Comment

You know personally i give PBF credit for beating Hatton (he took an undefeated fighter who many thought could stop him)...
I give him no credit for beating Baldomir - that was freacking creation of Judah...
The fight with Judah was close, and could be a draw (especially if the KD was counted) - while Tszyu, Cotto and Clottey demolished Judah)
The fight with ODLH was close (though i think PBF landed more and won). I don`t blame PBF for talking ODLH - that was a big money fight.... everybody would duck anybody to take that fight (and i don`t think PBF ducked anybody at that time)...
The only problem i`m having with PBF is that he ducked Oscar for the second time (oh, yeh, he never needed money) and the whole welterweight division...
I really want to see him with a great Mosley, with devastating body puncher in Cotto, with a freaking MW-SMW in Clottey, with a slugger (also a MW) in Margarito!
I mean,ok he dominated a fat Featherweight... an HoF Featherweight... But just forget it! Move on! I want to see Mayweather in the ring with some CHALLENGES!!! And excluding Hatton, he finished taking those after the second fight with Castillo!Comment

Yeah, cuz that's how we measure up greatness in boxing. How much money you can make.
Floyds 2nd greatest of all time only next to George Foreman and his ATG grills. Mickey Rourke is up there but still a distant 3rd. Sugar Ray Robinson honorable mention at #35,980. (The dollar wasn't worth much back then).Comment

floyd has only beat liteweights why are you floyd fans soo delusional? "mosley didnt fight gaythugwether because he went on vacation so if he didnt fight him at that moment then that excuses fraud jr from ever having to face mosley ever even though mosley is the ruler of frauds weight class", thats basically what every fraud fan says when they say mosley didnt fight fraud like 8 years ago , all i can say to you ******s is he aint duckin him now is he!!!!!?????if floyd is soo badass why does he cower from mosleys challenge??? then go after max kellerman when it was mosley and hopkins tellin him **** while frauds all studderring looking all ******.the # 1 welterweight is mosley because hes beat top welterweights unlike fraud jr whos only beat 140 and 130 lb under guys and hasnt faced a single credible welterweight ever!!!!!!whats soo great about that?????????Comment

Few people deny his great talent, they just wish he would test it against the best live opponents in his own division, which is something all great champions do, but which he hasn't done for many years.
And it irritates the hell out of most neutral boxing fans that so many of his so-called fans justify his refusal to do so on the basis that he's such a wonderful businessman. I don't give a stuff how much money he's made, I just want to see great fights, in which the best fighters in the world test their talent against the top contenders; and I find it very hard, if not impossible, to respect anyone who claims to be a boxing fan but who would rather the fighters they support make more money in a meaningless fight than a little less money in a great fight against their most meaningful opponents.
His fans justify his fighting Marquez on the basis that Marquez called him out - as if he had no choice in who he fights! LOL! - but when the #1 ranked Welterweight in the world, Mosley, calls him out, and he claims that Mosley doesn't "deserve" a shot against him because "he's not a draw" or because "he didn't give me a shot several years ago", they lap up his ridiculous excuses and regurgitate them like religious zealots.
He's an all time great talent, but to be an all time great fighter, you have to fight the best possible opponents, which he doesn't want to do, and that's very sad.
And what's even sadder is that many of his so-called fans seem to be far more interested in accountancy than they are in watching great fights.Comment

With all due respect that statement SPECIFICALLY is naive because when Floyd fights who they "deem" worthy they come up with excuses and move on to the next man. Baldomir is the PERFECT example of this. You might not remember it but when Floyd fought Judah before Baldo he was TORCHED, absolutely torched for not fighting Baldo, they called him a ducker and this and that. Then when he actually fought Baldo what did they do? They said the win wasn't **** and now he is ducking Margarito to fight ODH. Then Oscar is shot and old so he fights undefeated Hatton. But now Hatton is too small and unworthy even though they were the same ****ing size on fight night. It's never good enough, THAT is the main problem.
Side note: Hagler is one of my top 5 all time favs.Comment

mayweather haters and mayweather fans can say whatever they want about the man... but this kind of thing is good for boxing as a sport... it shows we're here to stay and bigger things can manifest in future fights...Comment

And even at those lower weights his résumé is less good than it should have been. After the Castillo rematch he fought second tier Lightweights instead of Dorin or Spadafora, and beating them would certainly have improved his legacy. Even at Jnr Lightweight, his legacy would have been improved if he had fought Freitas and Casamayor.Last edited by Dave Rado; 09-27-2009, 05:11 PM.Comment
