I honestly thought it was going to do around 500-600k. I was wrong.

Yea including a fake injury to allow more hype/begging time and relocation to Mexican holiday.

It's all good. Many others thought (correction) were hoping it would bomb, period.

        This is great for boxing!

This is what I am thinking, cause if they included the movie theater buys with it then it isn't right if you get my point?

I didn't think it would do more than 600k either to be honest, with all the people that were against the fight and all.

This is great and bad. The great, is that it's good for boxing.

The bad is that 1 million people saw a boring fight, and the even worse is that Floyd's demands are gonna be INSANE now.
I enjoyed it. It was a clinic but to each his or her own. I did the Theater thing and that was a lot of fun. The Theater I was in was about half full and was good energy. Lots of fun and I can see that it must have been a significant revenue stream.

                OFFICAL #'S OUT NOW...

Floyd Mayweather's return to the ring last week on pay-per-view was more than a hit.
It was a home run that exceeded expectations to become the No. 1 boxing PPV of 2009.

The Mayweather-Juan Manuel Marquez non-title bout drew 1 million buys — roughly $52 million, according to HBO PPV — at MGM Grand in Las Vegas last Saturday, by far the former welterweight champion's greatest showing as the headliner.

It is only the fifth time in boxing pay-per-view history that a non-heavyweight event has reached the one million mark.

You guys hated on this fight from day one.
even with a recession, the media trashing this fight, fans talking of boycotting and UFC competing with it all on the same night...
The Mayweather fight still did more than Pacquiao vs. Hatton and probably Pacquiao vs. Cotto

The deck was completely stacked against Mayweather and he still pull it out.
This fight proved Mayweather claim on him being a cash cow.
oh yeah..he has been off for 2 years

                lol

Ha ha yeah dude it is. But people weren't too happy with Oscar when he kept saying "Marquez is gonna win" and he did it purely for promotional reasons...the fight was promoted really well. There was so much hate whenever Oscar took interviews about this fight from his haters and I remember replying to the numerous threads where Schaefer and DLH were interviewed....just wanted to point out they did a good job promoting and that people should get of DLH back when he takes interviews which piss off the common boxing fan...he knows how to sell to the general public...as does Mayweather.
