Eubank Jr is a not a world-champion level boxer but lets be fair to him - something was off with that man tonight.

Eubank ate BOMBS against Goves and kept coming for more. Tonight, he looked like Amir Khan against Kell Brook.

Ironic that Roy Jones is his trainer - can't help but wonder if that recent weight diminished him.

I watched the fight after I read the result.

I thought Eubank was doing better than Smith before the stoppage. Eubank had clear physical advantages over Smith. It was a bit surprising that Eubank chose to fight on the back foot while having height and reach advantage. Certainly fighting from an RJJ-like stance didn't do Eubank any favours.

RJJ was not good in the corner. I am not sure Eubank was getting anything out of that stream of words.

I was trying to understand why Eubank lost - the best I can come up with is Eubank was fighting the wrong fight (being on the back foot nullified his physical advantages) and did that in an undisciplined way, staying open for Smith's lefts. You better have some inside game if you get locked up in a corner - Eubank was making himself target practice, not offering any fire back. Finally, he should have taken a knee after getting buzzed with the first two shots in the corner.

Conclusion - Eubank should switch trainers ASAP, and not enforce the rematch. He has the name and the recognition to get another big fight. Almost any top trainer would be better than RJJ - Garcia, Hunter, Breadman.

OK, lets explain, because this doesn't seem to be getting through to the more, lets be brutally honest, ******ed side of this forum. Put simply, it isn't anyone else's business what I do in my bedroom unless it involves children or adults that are not consenting.Understand? It follows, logically it must follow, that it isn't required of anyone to say what their sexual preferences are. Even in Iran, as I understand it, you aren't required to state your proclivities. Therefore, if I insist that somebody divulges their sexual preferences to me, I need to have a damn good reason. That might be national security, but it might be as little as because they are a teacher in a boarding school or a carer in an institution. In all those cases, obviously, the interview would be private & certainly not on TV! Liam Smith had no good or justifiable reason to start questioning CEJ's preferences. A boxer is not a pointless 'celebrity' who has become famous by sharing their private life with the world. A boxer is famous for being good at boxing. That doesn't, & shouldn't, require them to reveal anything more to the world than their training regime & their ring-style. I have absolutely no knowledge of CEJ's preferences, nor do I care. I am far more interested in his apparent inability to fight effectively when an opponent closes the distance. I can say, however, that people like you, taking a prurient interest, lead to Emile Griffiths killing a man. I would, therefore, suggest you STFU.

Many boxers are not 'nice' - they come from not nice backgrounds, they weren't brought up nicely and they are promoted by not very nice people. Does any of this excuse ****phobia? The nature of these pre-fight TV shows is that the both the producer of the show and the interviewer would be crucified if the conversation was restricted to bland details of training regimes. The producers want needle/controversy/ and ****y exchanges. In the moment, these exchanges can go over the top.
For good measure, I'll add that boxers are not exclusively famous for being good boxers, in fact Eubank may be 5 times more well known than Rigo who was at least a 5 times better boxer. Eubank Jr is a celebrity in the UK partly because of his last name - and his dad's eccentricities. Tank - a certain demographic relate to his persona and out of ring life, ditto Ryan.
Your last line about Griffiths was not coherent - G put a beating on Paret because he was insulted - but the most obvious reason that Paret died was because he probably entered the fight with some kind of residual brain trauma including from the first fight between the pair; because the referee was useless and negligent and didn't protect Paret; and because Paret weight cut from 156lbs from his mw fight 3 months earlier.

to me it doesn't matter who started it - its a part of boxing just like Dirrell saying "no white boy is going to beat him" - it's unsavoury - but so is beating on each other's brains.

In a so-called perfect world we'd all be nice to each other, there'd be no crime, no wars, no offensive insults - but if anyone thinks they are getting any of that in today's society and especially boxing then they are delusional
