It's not the weight itself (though that is part of it), but the size advantage. Marquez came into this fight with a disadvantage in reach of about 5", which is quite a bit, even if they were light heavyweights....for welters, that's monstrous. No way for Marquez to reach Mayweather without Floyd opening up, which he did maybe twice, and then mostly in a counter.

I said it before the fight....Marquez had about a 1 in 200 chance of winning, and I saw nothing in the fight that made me change my mind. Anybody that gave Marquez a legitimate chance at a win here knows nothing about the sport.

He probably could've won at lower weights but he didn't and after such a long layoff weight draining may have had severe effects on him. He seems to have grown into the ww devision now.
