The upset defeat in which he lost his undefeated record, and the titles was bad enough on his psyche.
To lose them to a short fat Mexican (Ruiz was the first Mexican to win the heavyweight title), left him in leaning against the ropes in a dazed state of shock.
It was his first fight in the U.S. in an attempt to broaden his fan base by adding American boxing fan's to it.
Yet Andy Ruiz's speed, power, fighting spirit, and ability to take a punch, spoiled Anthony Joshua's grand introduction to the United States of America.

AJ may have been a weak champion, but he's still superior to this rabbit-punching Hrgovic who picks on old men. I'd love to see AJ knock out Hrgovic.

He learned a similar lesson to the one Wlad learned. Some opponents just won't be stopped. If you blow through your ammunition trying, you'll get overrun unable to effectively return fire.

Joshua was a beast when he was knocking out 40 yr olds and no hopers, but Ruiz jr totally ruined him.

Anthony used to sit down on his punches more, but after he was surprised (sort of bushwhacked) by what seemed to be an easy to beat opponent like Andy.
He's just not willing to take the chances that he was willing to take prior to being humiliated by Andy (I may be fat but I'll still beat you up) Ruiz.
Ruiz is a damn good fighter who has beaten Ortiz, Joshua, Arreola, and Parker, although he didn't the decision, because he was fighting in his opponents back yard.
By the way Joshua has become a much better boxer, his loss in the rematch against Usyk was an excellent display of boxing by both men.
Joshua really pressed Usyk to the max in their fight, it looked like he was about to wilt, quit, or get knocked out at several points in the fight.

I'm curious how Hrgovic fights after nearly getting KO'd by Zhang. Every time Big **** connected clean, it looked like someone tasered the Croatian and his brain was short circuited; I recall him getting hit, turning his back and walking away from the exchange.
